I Have Spent A Lot Of Time Thinking About It, And Basically All I Can Think Is A Somewhat Communist Society.

I have spent a lot of time thinking about it, and basically all I can think is a somewhat communist society. Because you don't need money, and people are survivor of an apocalypse, in a dangerous environment.

You're paid in good majority of the times, and your time taxed. In the olden day, chores were realized. So citizens have to give say a week of work to do chores, like infrastructures maintance. Very likely soldiers of the Cristarium are also hunters to bring back meat.

Lot of thing aren't sold, so much are given away. With an understanding that it will help someone. A pay it forward mentality. I brough back herbs, I gave it to the healers, two soldiers survived thank to it, these two soldiers killed a few lightmonster more, a road is securised, a merchant survive where he would have died, food is delivered, a bunch of villager are saved from starvation, etc, etc.

Sure, you got peddler and traders, but they are more here to do barter and bring information than sustain an economy as you would think. Cristarium got infrastructures to grow food, but the carry and mineral are found elsewhere, we give you that much food in excange for ore.

I think the idea of creating an economy is just starting to come around. World is safe. They are recovering more lands, and this mean they can look forward for actually growing, instead of merely trying to keep what they have.

It's likely, as their society as a whole recover, than the taxes evolve, from giving time and work, toward good and money. For now they have an import/export taxe, and facility taxe.

I know complaining about the lack of socioeconomic information on the various societies in FFXIV is a bit like complaining about my omelet not having any chocolate syrup on it. But Robert Jordan has truly brain scorched me because I can't look at the Crystarium without wanting to scream how are you a functional society, what on EARTH must your tax code look like?, followed by shaking the whole place like an etch-a-sketch until it gives me answers.

If we're going only by indo-european linguistics drift, we're going to get the slavic langage and the celtic one. Maybe the indo-iranian too.

Anyway, pretty fun you speak of it, because I had see the linguistics diversity of the Source, but didn't realize the Reflections where basically linguistically locked. Or maybe it's just only one who survived since the others shard we see are ravaged.

something extremely compelling about the fact that all the reflections are seemingly assigned One Main Language. the source has french. the first had (rip) german. the thirteenth has italian. what other linguistic wonders await us........
