was the only thought going through your still half-asleep brain as you struggled to blink open your eyes.

it’s so fucking hot.

once you were kinda awake, with open blinking eyes you regarded what the hell was making you so hot. bright washington sun crept through the curtains, sweeping the tranquil hotel room in a beautiful light.

looking to your right, you found the heat source, the culprit.

choi yeonjun, your boyfriend, sleeping ever so peacefully nuzzled into your side, brown hair messy and tussled with sleep, his arm thrown lazily over your stomach, keeping you close to him and his goddamn furnace of a body, his leg draped and entangled with yours under the sheets.

looking at him, seeing his breath rise and fall softly, the pout that seemed to always be on his lips jutting out, you couldn’t help but smile.

it was rare to see him like this, be with him like this, and instead of running away from his heat you brought him closer, wrapping your arms around him as he nuzzled closer to you, burying his face into your neck, his soft breath tickling you.

you brought your hand up to his messy head, smoothing the brown down and running your fingers through it, scratching his head lightly. he exhaled happily and, still seeming to be asleep, moved a little bit so you could see his face.

you felt like the grinch seeing him like this, your heart growing 3 sizes bigger at the sight of yeonjun.

you watched him breathe in and out, softly tracing his perfectly shaped face with your finger. across his brow bone, down his perfect sloped nose, softly grazing his cute little cupids bow, tapping his perfect pout ever so softly.

maybe it was the early morning making you feel your emotions even more so, but seeing him sleeping peacefully, cuddled up to you, lit up by the morning sun, you felt as if you might cry.

dating yeonjun wasn’t the easiest thing all the time, his schedule insanely demanding, your college classes challenging, and sometimes it was hard to just get a 15 minute facetime call these days. which is why you jumped at the opportunity to go with him on tour, seeing him on stage with his members, in what was his happiest element, made you happy even more so.

you were suddenly brought out of your thoughts with a sigh and a stir, yeonjun seeming to be waking up next to you.

cute.

was the only word that could fit this situation. you’d seen it before, sparingly, but yeonjun waking up was the cutest goddamn thing you think you’ve ever seen in your life. a small frown on his face, hair messy but somehow still perfect, eyes still closed, nose scrunched up, the pout on his lips jutting out even more so that you felt the intense urge to kiss it.

you leaned into him, feeling his breath on yours, and placed the smallest, sweetest ghost of a kiss on his perfectly parted lips.

you pulled back, hand still in his hair, smile on your face. looking at him in this light it was insane how someone so perfect could just be walking around on this earth, even more insane that you got to be with him like this and share these moments with him.

“whyd youstop,” a small, deep mumble fell out of yeonjuns perfect lips and into the room.

you scratched his head lightly again, seeing his eyes were still closed, ignoring the fact that his morning voice was somehow deeper than how he normally sounded and it was driving you crazy.

you giggled at him, his little glare on his face over the fact that you simply didn’t kiss him longer.

“i like when you kiss me,” he mumbled again, you caught sight of his ears turning a little red and he buried himself into your neck again out of embarrassment.

you laughed then, a soft real laugh, pulling him even closer to you, wanting to feel his warmth now.

“oh my god you’re literally the cutest person alive, did you know that?” you gushed over him.

you could feel his face growing hotter with the praise and he shook his head, “nuh uh, it’s you.”

you laughed again, “oh my god you’re such a baby.”

yeonjun, finally seeming fully awake, lifted his head at that, pulling his body weight and resting on one of his arms so he wasn’t on top of you anymore, rather, laying on his side regarding you.

you suddenly felt hot again, not from the temperature. it was still crazy to you how yeonjun could go from being the cutest thing alive to staring at you like he was literally going to eat you.

yeonjun smirked, he always thought it was funny how he still made you nervous.

he decided he was done teasing you and suddenly wrapped his arms around you, rolling onto his back and laying you on top of him.

“did you sleep okay?” he asked, his voice soft with adoration but still octaves deep with sleep.

you nodded, feeling shy under his gaze, which he noticed and made him smile up at you, “the only thing is that you’re a fucking furnace, choi,” you pretended to be mad, “i feel like i’m gonna wake up sweating because you’re so hot.”

he laughed, a gorgeous, loud laugh that made butterflies settle in your stomach, and wiggled his eyebrows, “i know, right.”

you rolled your eyes, “you’re stupid.”

he grinned, his eyes practically disappearing with his giant smile, and whispered, “you love it.”

he moved his head forward and captured your lips with his, you practically melting into the soft kiss.

kissing yeonjun always had your head spinning, his lips always warm against yours, making you feel safe and making the butterflies in your stomach go crazy.

he pulled away, admiring that spaced-out look you always got when he kissed you, no matter if it was soft and sweet like this one or rough and full of want.

he pulled you closer to his chest, your head laying on top of his heart, listening to the beating.

you both stayed like that in contentment for who knows how long, yeonjun breaking the silence with a small whisper, “i like having you here, like this, with me.”

you smiled on his chest, listening to the soft thump thumping of his heart, “i like seeing you like this, and being here with you.”

yeonjun pressed a lingering kiss to your forehead, your eyes closing automatically and you hummed in response. the both of you finally sitting up and yeonjun grabbing his horn-rimmed glasses from the side table, placing them just on his nose, making him look somehow even more attractive, which you didn’t even know was possible.

he captured your eye contact, holding your hand, his thumb dancing over your skin, “i love you,” he said softly, a big dumb smile on his face.

a big dumb matching one on yours, “i love you, junnie. even if you feel like lava when you sleep.”

he rolled his eyes at that and released you, getting out of the warmth that was your shared bed and standing in front of you opening his phone.

you took the opportunity to ogle him, as any sane person would.

a shirtless yeonjun was a beautiful one, like yeonjun was all the time, but there was something else about him like this, grey sweatshorts (whore) riding low on his hips, honey-colored skin exposed and kissed by sunlight, making him glow, glasses perched on his nose, brown hair the most perfectly messy thing atop his head.

yeonjun didn’t look up, but felt your stare, smirking, “see something you like?”

you blushed, “no.”

he scoffed, shaking his head, “okay liar.”

you giggled, finally taking the opportunity to stretch when there was a soft knock at the door. both of you knowing it was probably staff (or beomgyu coming to bother).

yeonjun grabbed a navy blue botton up shirt and haphazardly pulled it over him, sadly coving up his golden skin, as he padded softly over to the door.

soft words were exchanged and the door closed and he turned with two starbucks cups, smiling at you,

“oh my god, yes,” you said, making grabby hands towards the cups which made yeonjun smile as he walked back over to you, stopping to grab his ipad from the bedside table.

he gave you your drink, the caffeine comforting you after just one sip as he settled back into the bed next to you.

he opened his ipad and pulled up youtube, looking for something to watch. when he made his pick, he rested it on his legs, wrapping an arm around your shoulder and bringing you close.

you rested your head on yeonjuns shoulder, holding your drink and smiling softly.

you looked up at him again, admiring his perfect side profile, and gave him a small kiss on his cheek, making him turn to face you, smile on his lips.

“what was that for?”

you shrugged, “just because.”

he grinned, glasses pushing up on his nose, and kissed your forehead again, all while snuggling you closer against him.

as the sun got brighter in the room, it danced over the white comforter, and lit up yeonjuns hands and coffee cup. it was warm and perfect, just like yeonjun himself.

yea user yawnzzn killed me today so i had to write about it this was not supposed to be this long & it is unedited i just needed to word vomit about him because OH MY GOD!!!

"Where are you taking me Jay?" You laughed softly as he tugged you along the beach, it was nearing evening time now and the sky was a dark shade of blue.

Jay had picked you up from work that afternoon, telling you he wanted to take you somewhere. However, his usual chirpy demeanor was no where to be found when he greeted you. He was quiet, the nerves were getting to him all of a sudden and it showed.

He'd spent all day with the boys preparing, Heeseung and Jake had managed to come along for a few hours to help as well as Taehyun and Beomgyu. The only one who kept you busy at work was Niki, who was there to keep you distracted so that you wouldn't realise exactly how long the other four were on their lunch break for.

All the boys had spent the last few weeks planning and preparing this day, checking the weather forecast for when it would be warm and calm, making the decorations, preparing food for the two of you. Jungwon had even made sure you wore a cute outfit to work that day, insisting on styling you into something a little bit too fancy for work.

If you'd been paying attention then you'd probably have noticed something was up. But your mind was too occupied with the sales of your new hybrid multivitamins that you didn't even register the weird behaviour of everyone around you.

"Just a little further," he mumbled, bottom lip tucked between his teeth. His fingers were intertwined with yours, the little box in his pocket was burning a hole.

You turned a corner, seeing a setup of pillows, lights and decorations tucked away in the spot you and Jay had been to before. It was beautiful, the little makeshift seating area was cozy and there was already plates of snacks and drinks waiting for the two of you.

"Did you do all this?" You asked softly, eyes wide as you took it all in. You remembered coming here before, kissing Jay for the first time, how times had changed since then.

"I had a little help," he said shyly. He knew the boys were all hiding nearby, as soon as you'd left work everyone had made their way to the spot, taking their positions behind any bushes or trees they could find.

Heeseung was sitting behind the nearest tree, his phone out ready to film when he needed to. He wouldn't miss this moment for the world, he could feel a tear in his eye already.

"This is so beautiful Jay," you said, turning to face him. "What's this all for? It's not an anniversary or anything, is it?"

Jay shook his head, a nervous smile on his lips. He took both of your hands in his, the two of you standing underneath the fairy lights that were your only source of illumination now that the sun had gone down. Heeseung hit record on his phone.

"I love you Y/N," Jay started, taking a shaky breath. "I have for the longest time now, even before I said it to you. You've done so much for me, you came into my life and turned it upside down in the best way possible."

He caught your gaze, eyes showing so much sincerity that you felt like crying, "I never knew what love was until you came along, I never knew how amazing it could be. You taught me how to be myself, how to love myself and who I am, you showed me that it was ok to be me. And for that I'm so incredibly grateful, you have no idea how much impact you have had on me."

"Jay," you mumbled, a tear slipping down your cheek. "I love you so much, I did all that because I love you. You don't ever have to thank me for it."

"I know," he replied, smiling at you. One hand came up to cup your cheek and wipe away the tear. "You're so selfless when it comes to love, you give without expecting anything in return. That's why you're such an amazing person through and through. Falling in love with you was the easiest thing I've ever done."

He dropped your hands, stepping back slightly as you watched him with wide eyes, "you showed me how much more I was worth, you changed my life for the better. There will never be anyone else like you, you're truly one of a kind. And you're it for me, I can't imagine doing this with anyone else. I don't want to do this with anyone else, I want to live my life fully with you by my side."

Jay dug the box out of his pocket, dropping to one knee in front of you and holding it open. He watched as the penny dropped in your mind, your eyes automatically tearing up at the sight. Your hand flew to your mouth to cover the gasp that sounded, Jay's smile never once leaving his lips.

"So I'm asking you, Y/N, will you do me the honour of marrying me? So that we can spend forever with each other, so that I can continue loving you for as long as we live?"

He didn't even need to ask, because before he'd even asked the question you'd dropped to your knees and wrapped your arms around him, "of course I will. I'll marry you Jay, I'll spend forever with you."

Jay held you in his arms, pressing his lips to yours as if to seal that promise. He felt the tears run down your cheeks and onto his own, but he didn't really care. His mind was still reeling as he pulled away, slipping the ring onto your finger finally.

"Let's fucking go!" Jake screamed from somewhere in the distance, prompting the two of you to snap your heads over in their direction. All the boys came out of their hiding spots, cheering for the two of you as a wide smile broke out onto your face.

"Were they all in on this?" You asked Jay quietly, admiring the ring that sat so prettily on your finger. Jay took your hand in his, kissing it gently.

"They helped me plan this all, they bought my vision to light," Jay replied. His gaze kept falling down to your hand, loving the way the ring looked on you, "Heeseung filmed the whole thing too, I'm sure he'll use it to blackmail us one day."

"That sounds about right," you laughed softly, finally standing up and pulling Jay with you. He wrapped you up in his arms, pressing a few light kisses to your lips. "I love you Jay, I can't imagine doing this with anyone else."

He visibly relaxed, his own smile mirroring yours, "I love you too Y/N, you're my forever."

SYNOPSIS › one thing about life— it's unpredictable. for example, you made a note to yourself about not associating too much with heeseung for your own peace of mind, letting him stay as the academic rival slash classmate that he is, instead of allowing him to be something more, except one thing leads to another and you find yourself face to face with the said man with your feelings all over the place. a lowkey confession leading to a mere competition, let the game begin.

NOTE › me writing another long fic for heeseung but r we surprised? no. im like . 42% into the fic so we hope and pray that i manage to get the whole thing out by the end of next week. send an ask/comment to join the taglist :) oh, and both heeseung and the reader are pursuing for masters in biotechnology ( bioinformatics to be more specific but they're very different ) omg omg also i was rereading this w foreshadow playing and the chorus came in as soon as i reached the end like that's perfect timing yes 👍

“i like you,” and so, he lets his feelings win for once, deciding to let his heart take control instead, closing doors to any room for rational thinking like it never existed. “you said it was about timing, about trying hard enough and having only a few chances, perhaps, just one bullet, and i’m shooting my shot right now. i don’t want to remember you as a closed chapter of my life,” 

your mind goes blank.

heeseung is someone you planned to stay away from for the rest of your university life. him stepping into your life already costs you a lot, namely: dropping in ranks and losing your infamous title. his actions cost you the time you could use to study, which is actually upon you because you can simply ignore him instead of spending hours on thinking about his how's, when's and what's. heeseung was supposed to be the academic rival slash classmate that he is, instead of allowing him to be something more, but beyond rivalry, feelings, etcetera. you knew the way you felt about him, even though you couldn’t be as certain as him, or even to claim you see him the same way he feels about you.

turns out, heeseung has always been sure of certain things in his life. 

“heeseung, i’m—”

“not sure? busy? stressed? i know you have a lot of things going on right now. take your time, study for the finals, finish your papers, sort out your own issues and then come back to me. i’ll be waiting,” it’s like he’s not only good at studying but also at reading minds, because heeseung seems to have guessed a part of exactly what you’ve been thinking. call it timing, jay calls him to get back to practice just a few seconds later— a perfect excuse to leave. “looks like my break is over,” 

you sit speechless, watching him walk away like an opportunity that just walked out of your hand. it feels like a slight defeat, like a test you failed when you could've scored better, if not a full score. it's funny because this wasn't a competition, you weren't rejected, more like you rejected him, but it still feels like he has the upper hand. it's funny and equally annoying because heeseung is supposed to be nothing more than just a nobody, somebody you aren't even supposed to spare two thoughts on, but here you are sitting with the guy with your feelings all over the place. 

“heeseung,” you stand up, your voice making him turn to look at you, both of you ignoring the sight of his teammates standing motionless in their positions, too stunned at your voice reverberating in the almost empty court. “let’s do this: if you manage to stand first in the finals, i’ll date you,”

a lowkey confession leading to a mere competition. his lips morph into a smirk, the ones he'd pass you before tests, an open challenge offered directly to you. “and if i don’t?”

and you mirror the same smirk back at him, you weren't going to back off simply because it's about the person you possibly have a crush on. “i become just a closed chapter of your life,” 

let the game begin.
