What he stated about the other ‘BRANCH of the family’ tells me that Mikasa’s dad can be traced back to BRANCH family ties of the once superior Ackerman family that resides with the Royal Family (Fritz).

Possibly, since Kenny told that the family that moved south Shiganshina district is a BRANCH family, we can tell that Dad Ackerman (Mikasa’s Dad) is also possibly a son of a male member of a branch family of Ackermans. And Kenny even told Grandpapa “they” so it implies that Dad Ackerman still have a family prior to him meeting Mikasa’s mom in the woods. Heck, Kenny doesn’t even know their names due to the location. 1) Mikasa in the manga calls Levi by his full title "Levi heishichou". The word "Heichou" is not wrong, it's just a diminutive. It shows the respect he has for him.
