i absolutely hate this kinda of argument because they try to label EVERYTHING as "feminine coded" or "masculine coded".

here's an example:

I Absolutely Hate This Kinda Of Argument Because They Try To Label EVERYTHING As "feminine Coded" Or

this person claims that both arya and daenerys have a "masculine strength/courage" because one is an assassin and the other has a magical military weapon. sansa on the other hand, is just like alysanne because both of them never used a sword and both have a female bodyguard. nevermind that alysanne is a dragonrider just like dany, or that grrm said she was a fine archer and hunter in her youth. alysanne was jaehaerys most trusted counselor and arya asked her father if she could become a king's counselor. both arya and dany make friends with anybody and care about protecting the smallfolk, just like alysanne. martin said arya was inspired in feminist women and sansa is literally her foil but they according to them sansa is alysanne "a cock is not essential" reborn and arya and dany are men wannabes.

and since swords/dragons = masculine coded and diplomacy/pen/administration = feminine, i guess we can say that varys, sam and littlefinger are more "feminine coded" than daenerys, brienne and arya lol 😭

I am so tired of people saying that Arya and Dany are "not like the other girls" these people really must learn that this term goes beyond not following typical feminine standards.

Neither of them feel superior to other girls, neither of them has treated another girl badly just for being a girl, neither of them hates femininity.

both remain feminine without having to follow the typical standards of the time.

So no, it's not that we believe that Arya and Dany are superior for being "not like the other girls" who beat bad girls for being "feminine" because we have never believed that Dany and Arya are not feminine.

I’ve been thinking about Howl’s Moving Castle and how Sophie’s curse is a physical symbol of her self belief of being romantically unlovable (especially after growing up with beautiful, sought after women in her family.) How Howl tries to undo the curse the moment she steps into his castle but he *cant* because Sophie doesn’t want it to be broken. How, in the film, Sophie gets so close to breaking the curse in the field, but hearing Howl call her beautiful went against her self views, so she reinforces her sense of self by turning 90 again.

And the way that her love and kindness make her younger again and again. How film Sophie sacrifices her long hair, perhaps what past Sophie would have seen as her only beauty, for Howl but she’s grown so much that she still remains young, perhaps even confident about her grey hair, showing that Sophie no longer links her appearance to her lovability or worth and she learned to accept herself as she is. In this essay I-

Stannis Baratheon as a character is wild... like we get introduced to him in the first book through everyone else’s eyes and they’re like yeah... we cant make him king cause everyone hates him... because he’s... grumpy... and doesn’t like sex... and he’s not as hot as his brother... and then in literally the prologue of the next book we get this absolutely heartbreaking backstory for him and then he starts burning people. That’s just wild.
