I also like that in the books Dandelion cannot stand violence at all. I mean, physically, he literally feels sick when he sees it! This is clearly in the moments when Yennefer killed his tormentors (the moment when he was tortured by Rience), that is, people literally hurt him, but he vomited when Yen killed them. And in the Season of the Storm, when Geralt destroyed the bandits who were also tormenting Dandelion. He could hardly control the nausea when he saw the horrors of war. He only got used to it towards the end of the saga.

And, no matter how much he was accused of misogyny, he was very sensitive to the girls who were dear to him. Take, for example, all his concern for Essi. Or how he closed Shani's eyes and held her, trying to calm her down, when Geralt killed the assassins, Michele brothers, sent against them. And how he helped Regis save Milva, who was wounded in the stomach, when she lost her childā€¦

He is a womanizer and a coward. But he has a big loving heart and a highly developed sense of justice.

Damn, he even asked Geralt not to kill the dragon during that episode! He think the dragon is very beautiful!

regarding book!dandelionā€™s much discussed misogyny one thing i find insanely amusing is how the gamer bro fanbase perceives it.

because to me, itā€™s like, supposed to be one of his weaknesses. itā€™s one of the ways in which he is unhinged that continuously gets him in trouble. yeah, thereā€™s a joke here and there. but like. dudu thinks he can get away in dandelionā€™s form? nah man, the angry woman with the frying pan knocks you out, worst decision you made that day. heā€™s afraid heā€™ll get murdered if they go to toussaint. he survives the quest to end up on a scaffold because he couldnā€™t stop fucking around.

yet, when you see the dude bro ā€œbook stansā€™ā€ reaction to the queer netflix reveal there are very personal grievances when they say ā€œyou made the womanizer gay!!!ā€. we know heā€™s not gay. heā€™s bi. he fucks more than twice the amount. but the fact that ā€œthe womanizerā€ would as much as look at a man somehow hurts these people in their masculinity, which reveals they think this part of him to be the cool, masculine part.

and itā€™s really funny to me, because i have this idea of sapkowski using bard characters (he does it in the hussite trilogy as well) to have some, dare i say it, subversive masculinities. because dandelion is very un-masculine in the context of the story. not only does he challenge the temerian knights and others by directly insulting their idea of masculinity and often ridicules the hierarchic structures he himself benefits from despite having fled the connected responsibilities. heā€™s not a fighter, heā€™s a poet, heā€™s not ā€˜hotā€™, he is pretty. heā€™s a coward, he is vain, he is bitchy, he is emotionally intelligent. he laments the gruesomeness of war that is nothing like the heroic masculine stories told about it. he is kind of the mum of the hansa. in short, he is very ā€˜feminineā€™, except for his womanizing and his misogynist moments (and the drinking). the parts of him that are, as i said, the most pathetic of his character. and yet, readers who are caught up in the structures of hegemonic masculinities perceive it as a way to consolidate his place in the hierarchy. in a way, his assholery is his redeeming quality in the masculine order. or at least that is what i believe, because why else would they have such an extreme reaction. if dandelion loses his one hegemonic masculine trait of putting himself above women by also sleeping with men, then he is not a man.

[i am aware the concept of masculinities has fluctuated massively in history, which is the point of hegemonic masculinities, and that medieval courtly masculinities had their own ā€˜feminizedā€™ moments, with monks complaining about the knightly fashion making them look like vain women, but this is a fantasy saga that the reader perceives from contemporary standards, and the masculinities presented are very warrior-centered]

plus, i imagine it complicates his friendship with geralt. because they are bro bros, going to the BROthel together, sharing beds, kissing each other on the cheek for goodbye. if one of these bros is interested in dick, it makes emotional intimacy among men ~weird~. it makes the dude bros go ā€œa bro cant have anythingā€. but bro, bro, you could have everything. you could even have a bite of dandelion.

awww thanks for tagā¤ļø

I get along with people quite easily, Iā€™m sociable and itā€™s easy for me to find common topics and quickly get into conversation with a person. I have only a few close friends, but a very large social circle. Also, I easily bring people together because I see well. what they are like, I immediately assume that they would be interested in anyone from my social circle. Because of me, many of my friends became friends with each otheršŸ˜…

I donā€™t draw very well, Iā€™m trying to regain my skills, but my friends who draw well say that I have a good sense of color and composition

In general, I learn everything well quite quickly and quickly adapt to new things. Therefore, it has always been quite easy for me in new jobs. I quickly grasp the essence and quickly enter into processes

I am very curious and interested in many things and like to delve into the essence (very, very many, probably, this is a consequence of my ADHD), but because of this, I always have a lot of all kinds of information and different facts in my head (probably this is called " erudite", my husband sometimes uses me instead of WikipediašŸ˜…)

People say I'm funny (no, I'm dead inside hahahaha) and I have a good sense of humor. Well, the second thing is most likely true, I really like to joke suddenly and usually tell jokes with the most serious face possible, which increases the effect

When I get obsessed with something I basically become an encyclopaedia for it and can relate anything back to it with incredible skill (ā€œOh Oedipus? Thatā€™s referenced in S1 Ep9 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, titled ā€œPuppet Showā€- the only episode of the show to contain a during-credits scene. The show, created by the now infamous Jos Wheadon ran between 1997 and 2003, for a total of 7 seasons and 144 episodes, each one averaging at around 45mins. The 100th episode of the show- S5 Ep22, ā€œThe Giftā€- was initially intended to be the season finale, but interestingly it was recalled for two more- hey! Guys! Come back, donā€™t leave!! Iā€™m not done!!!ā€)

In a similar vain, I have every lyric to Hamilton memorised. Donā€™t believe me, Iā€™ll prove it to you- do you have three hours to spare? I have in fact performed one-woman productions of the show to my friends and family, complete with sweet extra content (deleted songs, historical fun facts, a detective-style board with red string and everything proving Why They Are Gay).

I like to think Iā€™m pretty talented- I can sing, I play two instruments (Piano and Bass), I know my way around D.A.Ws and other sound equipment, I can draw, I can write, I can compose- but I am in no way a prodigy in these fields and thereā€™s always room for improvement.

Iā€™m quite truthful- I never lie, EVER. Iā€™m also open and honest about everything (sometimes at a risk of my own self-preservation). I donā€™t get embarrassed easily and I come across as quite confident.

People tell me Iā€™m smart- I have a tendency to not shy away from long, technical words. I talk a lot, and can get really stuck into a discussion if Iā€™m interested (Although, my Received Pronunciation accent and my good grammar in texts might also play a factor).
