This, this right here is beyond disgusting. The fact that profit is put over people's lives is appalling to me.
I've worked with adults who have disabilities and who came from rough circumstances for about two years while earning my degree. Plenty of them are not able to live on their own and my location barely has enough to get by in staffing and budget.
I have seen dysfunctional equipment to the point of causing a fire. I have seen the neglect of hospitals and the overworked or neglectful management. My state's overcorrected laws limit our capabilities to help these individuals lives and is insufficient in allowing those I care for to learn accountability. I would not wish what my clients go through on anyone.
My point being is this, the state as it stands does not care for its people. It will gladly throw people like this poor lady under the bus to get revenue, while allowing rich assholes to bail from similar crimes. Anyone who says it was her fault clearly does not understand the contradictions of capitalism or what it means to care for a fellow human being.
This is the End Goal of Capitalism
