Danny: Are you on something, Wes? Phantom's been around since at least ancient Greece times and you and me have been in the same middelschool. My mom has a million baby pictures of me. I'm clearly a growing, living human child. Not some immortal ghost boy that is some odd 2000 years old.

*shows Wes several pictures of old murals from all throughout history that clearly depicted Phantom doing ghostly shit*

Don’t panic but I can’t find a pulse

Danny had plans okay? He had plans!?

He was going to meet with Lady Gotham and ask her permission for him to stay in Gotham before he accepted the acceptance letter to Gotham University. She couldn’t exactly say no due to him being of higher power in the Ghost Court but it would be rude of him to not ask. So that was the plan and it was a simple one that shouldn’t have gotten this screwed up.

Lady Gotham seemed to have a preference for rooftops and Danny wasn’t about to object to meeting her on one, him being in her domain and all. After she tells him it’s okay for him to chill in her city she disappeared quickly. When meeting with a domain or lair owner you get tunnel vision so you can only focus on the owner. Apparently it was a type of defense mechanism. Having home field advantage and all that jazz.

That being said Danny forgot he was on the edge of the roof facing the drop. He was already startled by coming back to himself when he heard someone softly land a few feet behind him. Turning around quickly he lost his footing on the slippery edge and decided this was embarrassing enough so he let gravity take hold and he fell.

He’s been thrown into enough building and has broken enough concrete with his back to know this fall won’t hurt him. When he hit the ground it felt more like he jumped on a hard bed. Not a pleasant feeling but it also doesn’t hurt. Danny just wasn’t expecting the person, who he now sees is Red Robin, who startled him to jump after him.

Laying there in a dirty alleyway after falling from a five story building isn’t his best move but it’s too late now. He laid still hopping Red Robin won’t fully notice him but of course he can never get what he wants.

Red Robin kneels down next to him and feels for a pulse Danny knows won’t be there. Red Robin says something he can’t quite catch into what he assumes is a com and then let’s out a quiet “shit” shaking his head. Danny opens his eyes and looks at him saying, “watch your language.”

He got a terrified screech in response.

When Batman first started as a vigilante a certain percentage of the people of Gotham thought he was a demon or spirit or entity of some kind. Some of those people started to pray to him or even leave offerings on rooftops or fire escapes. The number of Gotham citizens that actually pray to him is fairly small but the number who believe he will protect them, who mutter under their breath "Batman will fix it" as their leaving the house the day after an Arkham breakout is very large.

Because magic and belief can work even when unknown or unacknowledged, Batman technically qualifies as a minor deity even though he doesn't know about it.

People have mostly prayed to him for protection and more specifically for the protection of children (especially after the Robins showed up).

Between his own actions and the belief of the people he is the patron deity of Gotham, of those in need of protection (particularly children) and of adoption.

Batmans strong belief that he is human keeps him human and he doesn't notice the minor boost magic is giving him. Like how no one ever sees him when he doesn't want to be seen or how he heals just a bit faster than the norm. It happens gradually over time as he gains more followers and he blames it on his training and on gaining experience as a vigilante .

Meanwhile, Danny needs a new home because of his parents and/or the GIW catching him and experimenting on him.

He escaped and went to Clockwork for help. Clockwork is one of his ghostly guardians but Danny needs human or at least human adjacent parents because of his human half.

Clockwork/Kronos wants to make 100% sure Danny is protected and happy in his new home. As a god himself, knowing Danny's power level and wanting to make sure whoever takes him in can keep up with Danny and offer him the safety he needs, Clockwork decides Danny needs a godly parent in the human world. His own children would be an option... except his relationship with them is still a bit... strained (hard to have a healthy family relationship after trying to eat your kids).

So he looks to other pantheons and after carefully considering the options, he chooses a deity that is still mostly human (perfect for Danny who was so recently entirely human and still learning about his ghost half), who is a God of protection (he can keep Danny safe especially in his own city where he's at his most powerful) and most importantly who is a God of adoption (who better to take in a child in need?). He chooses Batman.

The absolute chaos in the batfamily when the God of Time shows up and explains he wants Batman to adopt Danny because he is literally the God of having an adoption problem.

The Ghost King Wants To Rest!

After years of discovering about his immortality and living through the death and reincarnation of his loved ones, Danny was tired. The world had changed: it had destroyed, rebuilt, reboot, he honestly lost the thread over the years.

Although he could admit that it was interesting to see the evolution, the arrival of heroes on his "original" dimension. And maybe he forced Technus to build him a radio that would alert him to space-related issues there...

He was thrilled when Martian Manhunter was heralded as a hero (Superman was a pretty cool alien yes, but too... human?), though that was basically all the news he had of current civilization (not that he needed further)

The years passed and at the end he decided to live out his retirement on earth out of nostalgia (and by that he means Clockwork got his ass out of the Realms for a break) in what was once Amity a long time ago, he built a nice cabin in the mountains and settled there.

His relationship with Clockwork had evolved over the years, and Danny understood that his mentor (sometimes father) was very concerned that immortality would negatively affect him.

Seeing how he locked himself in his castle for the first few years after Jazz death didn't help alleviate his fears. So Danny didn't complain when the ghost threw him to Earth on that dimension (besides, it had Aliens now! and he missed Amity...even if it was not Amity anymore)

But people won't stop pestering him during his retirement! "Save us" "Help us balance the world, chosen one" "Play with me, let cause chaos!" And more ridiculous phrases. Can the horned boy and wizards leave him alone!? He just wanted to rest!

He couldn't even ask his loved ones for help because their reincarnations didn't recognize him (or did, and made fun of his situation).

On the other hand, Justice League Dark and Klarion have spent years trying to bring the powerful entity that lives in the mountains to their side but nothing works! Why is it so intent on pretending to be an old man with an appearance of 20!?
