The comedic potential of Batman’s massive and numerous monitors is severely underrated

You know how sometimes in Maribat salt!aus it would portray Adrien/Chat Noir as a stalker or someone who is just obsessed with Marinette what if the roles were reversed cause we already know about Marinette’s stalkerish habits and for like the angsty au type it could just be like shining light on him usually not being told about anything by ladybug despite willing to risk it all including his life for her like how Maribat Marinette is never really thanked for doing things for the class despite wasting time money and effort, and sometimes there’s parentsalt! Too and what trashier father to write about then a man who locked his kid up for a couple of years and can you imagine like instead of Marinette being adopted it’s Adrien and he’s basically called their secret love child and him trading puns with Dick. Meanwhile Alfred thanking the lord that he isn’t stuck with another kid that he has to find out what makes them them and one that just wears their heart on their sleeve but then hes like “wait a minute” and Adriens like “huh????” And realizing he’s been using humor to cope and Alfreds like 💀cause now he can’t really use old methods to comfort him cause he would definitely need one on one attention and Bruce would totally be happy cause at least one of his adopted/biological kids would openly hug him without a world ending event just having passed or one of them and or both were dying

What if instead of Marinette being a Wayne it’s Kagami, I mean we already see that Kagami takes after her mother you can see the similarities in the way that Bruce and Kagami act, both emotionally awkward and are both skilled in combat. I suppose that makes them more similar than him and Marinette besides her having brownish yellow eyes and being and not being a hero/vigilante like Marinette but we can’t forget that Kagami was involved in hero business for some time.

HEADCANON #1

I wholeheartedly believe that while Bruce wasn't a bad father to Dick, he also wasn't the greatest. Purely because he'd never had to care for a kid before, he didn't know the first thing about how. Alfred still had to make sure he didn't accidentally wind up dead because he forgot to eat in between being Batman and Gotham's resident pretty boy billionaire socialite. How did he expect himself to be able to take care of an actual child when he couldn't even take care of himself?

So it's hard, now, for Dick to see Bruce being a genuinely good father to the others. Bruce going to "bring your parents to work day" because Tim's own father couldn't make it, Bruce showing up to Damian's school science fair and asking questions about his experiment even though he helped Damian build it, Bruce going to see Steph in her school's play (even though she's only Talking Lady #3 and doesn't have any real lines as she so adamantly tells him), and so on forth and so on forth.

And it's not that he's upset for these other kids to be getting a good father-figure in their lives, it's just that he's jealous.

He's jealous because he didn't get to have that.

Bruce was still figuring shit out, Bruce was still trying to keep him at a distance and not get too close because he didn't want Dick to be another person he lost after letting him in even though what Dick needed more than anything was somebody to let him in.

So yea, Dick is jealous. He's jealous because not only was he replaced by Jason, but he was also replaced by Tim, and by Steph, and by Damian and not only as Robin— the name his mom used to call him, mind you, a name that was special and that he chose for himself because of that special meaning— but also as Bruce's kid.

He doesn't blame Bruce for not knowing, because he knows ultimately it isn't Bruce's fault. He's just mourning the fact that he never got the childhood he's witnessing all these other kids finally have and he feels robbed of it— robbed of having a good father, robbed of having someone to be there for his "bring your parent to work day", robbed of having someone help him build an experiment for his science fair and ask questions about it, robbed of having someone he could pick out in the crowd when he got picked to be Tree #1 in his school play.

He's happy for the others, because they deserve this happiness, but he's also jealous and feels guilty for said jealousy because he watched someone get better for somebody else and is left to wonder if maybe it was just him.

Maybe it's not that Bruce wasn't good at taking care of Dick, maybe it's just that Bruce didn't want Dick.

Anyways, let Dick Grayson be an angsty motherfucker because even though I like him being the sunshine, happy, rainbows-and-unicorns older brother to all the Bat-kids, I also think he deserves to have his trauma acknowledged, because watching someone put so much effort into loving somebody who isn't you when all you wanted was the bare minimum hurts.

Bruce: Are you going to make sure nobody picks on your brother?

Jason (7 y.o): [holding Tim's (3 y.o) hand] ..mhmm, yeah

Bruce: You're gonna stick up for him?

Jason: Y-yeah!!

Bruce: What is- What's the matter with him? Do you remember what its called?

Jason: Anxe-anxi-anshi-

Bruce: Anxiety?

Jason: Anxiety!

Bruce: Yes.

Bruce: And if kids pick on your brother, what are you gonna do?

Jason: ..

Jason: KILL THEM!!!

I'm working on a much bigger project featuring this guy. I'll probably start sticking stuff for it in here as it comes so be expecting a lot more DC from me lol. Now, headcanon time!

Jason Todd is probably one of my favorite DC characters, but also one that I feel has been generally mishandled.

One of the biggest things I think people forget about Jason is that he is, in fact, an anti-hero.

He does messed up shit because he knows that it's arguably the only way to really make a difference. Batman's methods, while generally noble, are relatively ineffective in the grand scheme of things. Due to the corruption of Gotham's justice system and rehabilitation system for criminals, the Big Bads really don't get their just desserts, which only leads to more people getting hurt and continuing the cycle of violence that has existed for so long.

Let's be real - the Joker has probably single-handedly ruined more lives than Batman could ever hope to save. I know, I know - that's dark, but it's probably true.

Trying a more drastic approach to keeping criminals off the streets doesn't seem too insane when those criminals don't get a clue to maybe stop after being beaten to a pulp by Batman.

I guess a lot of them are into that sort of thing lol.

In any case, Jason kills the bad guys so the families in the city won't have to worry about losing a child to the Joker's insanity, so women won't feel afraid to walk 100 feet down the sidewalk without turning into another missing persons photo on the ever-growing list, so that children don't have to worry about losing their parents to a hostage situation gone wrong.

I would argue that Jason Todd is not a bad person. In fact, I would argue that he is a very good person who is willing to go further than anyone else to help others because he knows exactly what it is like to be lost the grief, pain, and rage that comes from not being helped.

Anyway, that's all I've got for know. I'll probably do more character study stuff for the Bat family soon. Should be fun.

Anyway, headcanon time:

After raising Dick, whose humor consists mainly of puns, dad jokes, and bits of sarcasm, Bruce got whiplash when along came the hundred pounds of sarcasm and dark humor that was Jason Todd. And who tf hits Batman with a crowbar after stealing his tires?

Jason Todd was a menace and will continue to be a menace, and Bruce thinks it's hilarious.

So I noticed how that in this Tim. Is the only outlier. Like everyone else is in the rows while Tim is not, like is there any symbolism or am I reading too far into this?

One thing I’d love to touch on one day, probably in a “Batman adopts Captain Marvel” fic, is how Billy went through what would’ve happened if Bruce wasn’t taken care of

Specifically, where Billy had wealthy parents, pillars and stewards of their community, who died tragically when he was young and left him in the care of someone who he was supposed to trust, so did Bruce. But their situations went differently

Bruce was left in Alfred’s care and was taken care of, Billy was left in his uncle Ebenezer’s care and neglected and then thrown out with his inheritance taken away from him. Both at roughly the same age and both having enjoyed a fairly idyllic childhood that’s suddenly torn away from them, with Billy it’s either his parents murder at the hands of Theo Adam or a sudden lightning strike that causes them to crash their car and die.

Bruce lost and reacted with righteous fury and anger at the world, resolving to do good and make sure what happened to him doesn’t happen to other people ever again while fixing the issues that helped cause his tragedy. Billy lost and reacted by staying the same and by showing all the kindness the world failed to show him, never stooping to the level his villains go to because he has to be better or he’s just being another bully. The grand difference being that Bruce still had someone holding him up and giving him a shoulder to cry on with a room to isolate in, Billy had none of that and had to work to keep himself safe and fed.

Idk, just with all the focus on putting these two characters together makes the angst brain go full throttle

i have this head cannon that Bruce has a wall in his study dedicated to bad pictures of his kids. like, the exact moment when jason got sprayed by the hose? framed and hung. tim slipping and dropping pudding on his head? up there. dick falling from a chandelier? his open mouthed scream is the first picture up there. he has bad hair days from steph, failed pranks from dick, mid spin photos of cass, half asleep pictures of babs, everyone is up there. And then Damian comes and he sees the wall and he must be up there. But Damian is an absolute unit behind a camera, he does not have a single bad picture. ever. After an intense waterballoon fight they take a group picture and everyone is soaked and miserable and laughing but Damian is glowing, his hair swept away by the water just so and it infuriates him.

through the open doors the harmless phantoms on their errands glide
