honestly embracing anarchist ideology has made me such a better person in such simple ways. understanding the importance of individual autonomy and trusting others to make decisions, regardless of if I judge that decision as “good” or “bad”, has made my life so much easier.

for example, there was a girl ahead of me in line the other night. she was wearing bright teal short athletic shorts, a tight white tanktop showing off her nipple piercings, a (probable) fake tan, and berks w/ socks. I know me in the past would have been full of nonsense, wallowing in judgement. but like. I realized. “this is just a fellow person making decisions just as I do and my opinions don’t matter.”

and it just. went like that. didn’t care anymore.

i know this isn’t like. a big deal? like this is just some white girl at a fast food place with a tight shirt, but for me, that’s a big change from my “I’m-not-like-other-girls”, “she wears short skirts/I wear t-shirts”, superiority-complex-by-being-different stupidity. 

for me, it’s one of the many ways that anarchism isn’t just a political approach, it’s a mindset, it’s a mutual understanding, it’s an appreciation towards other humans. yes there’s a lot of complex theory and lots of reading and such. but. it’s also just understanding we are all people.
