John Laurens is love. John Laurens is life. John Laurens is Ben Franklin with a key and a kite, you see it, right? -me 2024 (I was dubbed the #1 Von Steuben fan and I will take that title as my own until my dying days when it shall be carved onto my tomb.)

Du Ponceau: I'm nearsighted, which basically means I can only see objects right in front of my face.
Von Steuben: Oh! *Bucks hips* Good to know.

✿ Von Steuben
ohM Y GOD OK
sex hc- Steub is 100% the person who thinks of something silly during sex and can’t stop laughing and no one can convince me otherwise. (but other than that he’s pretty classy and has nice pickup lines)
BUT ALSO HE FLIRTS WITH ALL THESE STRAIGHT GUYS AND BEN WALKER’S LIKE STEUB STOP YOU’RE NOT GETTING ANYWHERE- BUT HE IS AND HE ENDS UP SLEEPING W/ LIKE EVERY STRAIGHT GUY AT THE PARTY JUST FOR KICKS
thanks!

I'm sorry in case you can't tell I love him but let's be frank he was SKETCHY.
“The Baron watched over me with a father’s care. He well knew the dangers, to which an inexperienced young man was exposed to in this land of liberty, and took pains to guard me against them. “If,” said he once to me, (not long after our arrival in this country,) “if you write in the newspapers, or get married I will renounce you.” This fatherly advice made a strong impression on my mind, and was a salutary check to me on more than one occasion.”
— Autobiographical Letters of Peter S. Duponceau So, apparently, Steuben explicitly told Duponceau he wasn’t allowed to get married. Which is… interesting. And that Duponceau regarded it as ‘beneficial’ “advice” instead of what it really sounds like………. I don’t know how I feel about this quote overall honestly. Keep in mind, Duponceau was only 17 when he came to America with Steuben as his military secretary. (And Duponceau would actually marry twice.)
YES
Why don’t people write emails like like old timey politicians who have vague sexual tension anymore
Did y'all see my reblog response thingy about Hammie liking ice cream 😭😭😭
