romance and intimacy are things that aren't on law's radar until he begins to fall for you. he falls so hard that it veers into obsession; law wants to know everything about you, dissect every thought that passes through your hand, and know you better than the back of his hand.

when you're the object of law's affections, you scarcely are left wanting for much of anything. as you make your way to the kitchen of the polar tang each morning, there's always a cup of your favorite beverage mysteriously left on the counter; he never claims responsibility, but the signature scrawl of your name on the sticky note placed on the mug gives him away. anything you mention in passing or glance at longingly for more than a few seconds gets transported into his pocket or your bags with a quiet whisper of shambles. his quiet gestures of care go far from unnoticed, and his heart swells with each gratuity-filled thank you, captain that leaves your lips.

law is so fixated on wanting to figure you out, that it slips his mind that he has to open up as well in order to gain your affection. being vulnerable is far from easy for him, and each time he makes the difficult decision to divulge a piece of his past or his soul to you, it stings like the drag of a sword across his skin; however, he knows if he wants you, he has to learn to trust you, and eventually the pain begins to numb.

though you and law become emotionally entangled and nearly inseparable, the words to express how he feels are inaccessible to him, and he's terrified of having read the situation wrong. near-kisses, brushes of hands, and longing gazes add up like drops of rain in a bucket, until one day the water spills over.

the sheer depth of his emotions law felt as he fell for you made him overcomplicate things; he should have known better. he had spent months pining and yearning, when all he had to do was snake an arm around your waist, tilt your head towards his, and kiss you.
