I Think That The Fact Baz Is Always Trying To Dress Simon Says A Lot.
I think that the fact Baz is always trying to dress Simon says a lot.
When Simon first showed up to Watford, he was so excited to get a brand new, clean, just fit him uniform that he put them on his ‘things I miss about Watford’ list before his girlfriend. It was clothes tailored for him. I’m guessing that at the care homes, he never had clothes that were like this. It’s said that when he was starting at Watford, he had tattered jeans and a plain white tshirt.
When he is reflecting on the uniforms, he says he doesn’t know what he would wear when he graduates.
This is where Baz comes in. He always knows how to dress and evidently likes to do it. He wears suits or flowered shirts and really nice jeans. He knows what he likes and what looks good on him.
I think Baz subconsciously has wanted to dress Simon up. We see it from the first opportunities he has: giving Simon his pajamas and a suit to impress his family. He has just always wanted to care for Simon and make Simon feel good about himself.
I just think it’s so cute how Baz dresses Simon up like a little doll. Not super evident in CO and WS but definitely there in AWTWB

My thoughts on Brotherband Chronicles book 9: The Stern Chase
I didn’t have high expectations going into this one (thank The Missing Prince and Escape from Falasie for that) but it was so good.
The fact that it implies that Hal is a man whore. “But Hal wasn’t ready to settle down with one girl”. Is great
I love the Lydia and Ingvar pairing, and it is atypical how the main characters aren’t the ones to settle down first.
The fact that John Flanagan just… had a bear massacre and kill 5 people…
Ulf and Wulf being the bridesmen is so on brand and amazing.
They don’t have beards though, in my mind the entire crew is still 16.
The oar ramming is always my favorite move they make.
Erak’s hilfman isn’t Borsa anymore… that’s sad. But Erak threatening a sanction and a blockade? Amazing.
And Hal locking Jesper in the storage room to avoid a saga was my favorite scene. It’s the Skandian version of ‘hold my beer’.
Kloof and Erak’s relationship has progressed so much.
Overall 9/10. It had enough story for the plot if that makes sense. Escape from Falasie had too much plot for the story and The Missing Prince had not enough story in it.
The fact that Simon went from:
Not touching Baz unless it was a punch to
Awkwardly bumping his shoulder for comfort to
Doing it again, less awkwardly
Grabbing his shoulder and giving Baz his magic to
Holding his hands as Baz showed them stars
All in about a day says a lot about Simon. He just wanted any excuse to touch Baz after he realized that they don’t have to constantly fight each other.
HUGE SPOILER WARNING FOR BUNGOU STRAY DOGS CHAPTER 109.
I have an actual theory on why Dazai is alive. I might not have the how, but I have been trained by Fairy Tail’s author to spot fake out deaths. A small essay.
So when you get shot, you bleed. That’s a basic fact. Sometimes, even, to show a character has died without outright showing the violence, directors and mangaka will simply show a spattering of blood. In this panel:

And this one:

We see no blood from his head. We see some from his shoulder, where he did get shot, but none from his head. I have no clue why he is alive but you cannot convince me otherwise that he is dead. Now my theory might get a little shaky.
In all the actual character deaths I have seen, there always seems to be a big speech or moment. It is the characters last testament to the world. It could be something from a flashback (August in Fairy Tail) to a kiss goodbye (Reina in Rave Master) or a speech of hope (Koro-Sensei in Assassination Classroom).
Dazai has no speech or moment. Just basically a ‘this didn’t go in a direction that I planned’. Chuyaa shoots him the first time before he gets that moment. He has more character that needs to be fleshed out. It is a little too soon for him to die. And it wouldn’t fit thematically with him too. He wishes for death on the daily, but has never gotten it. It would be strange for him to magically get his wish with no buildup.
TL;DR: Dazai did not die in chapter 109 because there is no blood and because it doesn’t fit his character thematically.
This has been a terrible week in my manga releases.
First in Vinland Saga, Thorfinn agreed to leaving Vinland, his dream he has had since he was young.
Then in Bungou Stray Dogs, Aya threw herself off a building and we still don’t know if Dazai is alive.
Next, in the Noragami raws, it seems Hiyori DIED and became a Shinki.
And to top it all of, the Fairy Tail chapter was actual shit.
MISSIO’s Villian album appreciation post.
This album is absolutely amazing: I think there is a random villain in any book/show/anime/manga for any of the songs. I’m not entirely sure on the intent of the album but to me it’s what any villain can be feeling during their run in the franchise. Give it a listen to, especially if you like to assign things to random fictional characters.
