To then kissing twice in broad daylight whilst confessing their undying love to each other in the open (with Zheng fighting for her life) now certain of themselves and their relationship

Both times Stede and Ed had their meeting in the night under the moonlight they were always unsure of something, whether that was themselves or their relationship they were lost as pirates at sea - but the only time they were ever certain about themselves and their relationship was when they were on land where they retired as innkeepers.
