law being luffys third big brother has been invading my brain nonstop

luffy would just randomly blurt out something like "torao, you know you're my brother now right?" and law would get all pissy and upset bc he doesn't know how to feel about it. he grew up without any siblings, or anyone at all really. he had his crew of course, but no one's ever made him feel like family except for cora-san. he doesn't even know how to be a big brother. why would the strawhat even want him as a brother figure of all people? from what he's heard about fire fist-ya and sabo-ya, their personalities were vastly different.

he figures it was probably just a joke, one of strawhat-ya's silly comments, and tries to forget about it. but luffy doesn't let up and keeps calling him his brother to the point he even introduces him that way to new people they meet on different islands.

eventually he'd snap, telling luffy off ("you know I'm not your brother, we aren't even blood related in the slightest! not by a single drop! so cut it out, strawhat-ya!") and pushing off one of luffy's many hug attacks. luffy would be taken aback for a second before bursting out in laughter, confusing law even further before he speaks

"torao's stupid." he pointedly ignores law's complaint at the insult, "brothers don't need to be blood related! I'm not blood related to sabo or ace either. I call you big brother cause you act like one! I know you wouldn't let anyone talk bad about me just how I'd never let anyone talk bad about you. you're protective. we argue but I know we've got eachother's back. I love you how I love all my brothers and nakama torao, there's nothing you can do about it!"

he laughs even more and runs off pestering sanji for food as if he hadn't just turned law's world upside down. the strawhat ... loved him like a brother? he really valued him this much? ("I'd never let anyone talk bad about you") and he strangely already knew that law cared for him more than he outwardly admitted. the surgeons heart was threatening to burst with affection and he started tearing up before he could stop himself, and all because of strawhat-

all because of his little brother.

I have been DYING to draw some more of the OP apartment au but I’m super busy with class work rn

So instead I’m dropping some headcanons/ situations I’m hoping to draw out when I have the time (do with them what you will):

- Ace, Sabo, Perona and Nojiko visit every once in a while (+ the one time they all accidentally decide to sleep over at once and how tf they manage to fit 7 people in one apartment)

- Drivers licenses:

- Has a license:

- Nami (prefers motorcycle)

- Sanji

- Usopp

- Robin (doesn’t ever drive tho)

- Franky

- Doesn’t have a license:

- Luffy (incapable of getting a license)

- Zoro (never bothered, knows how to drive tho)

- Chopper (too young)

- Brook (too old)

- Family dinners usually happen at apt. 202 (because Sanji cooks) (yes, his kitchen is small, but it’s all he needs)

- Vivi visits every now and then (she stays in Nami’s room)

- Laundry mixups (just in general)

- Usopp comes over to apt. 201 to use the bathrooms in the mornings because only Nami has the decency to clean up and Sanji takes forever in their’s

- Robin carrying a sleepy Chopper back to their apartment after game nights

- Usopp is the reigning champion at darts

- Apt. 201 only has groceries because Nami buys basic stuff for them (otherwise they’d just eat next door every day)

- Franky moves in with Robin and Chopper at some point (Franky and Robin sleep in the same room) (they get a bigger bed)

- Brook has his own smaller apartment nearby and usually they can hear faint music coming from inside (sometimes they all ends up huddled in his little apartment hearing him play his tunes)

- Luffy has tried many times to bring beetles home and care for them. Nami said he couldn’t keep them in the apt because they always escape the cardboard box he tries putting them in. So Luffy and Usopp move them to Usopp’s room. But Sanji doesn’t want them in the apt either. Eventually, Robin gets them an empty fish tank and Luffy, Usopp and Chopper make a little habitat for them in apt 205

- Law moved in next door temporarily and just as quickly moved out

- Boa Hancock tries to be Luffy’s favourite (non-biological) aunt!! She visits every so often and brings snacks

- Nami, Usopp and Chopper have little sleepovers in Nami’s room

- Franky owns a minivan (for sure) (he made several modifications of questionable legality)

- Sanji works part time at the Baratie (the entire crew will sometimes have dinner there, during Sanji’s shifts to keep him company) (and to get free meals. That last part only works 10% of the time)

If I was writing a one-piece filler episode, I would have one of nami's tangerine trees grow a devil fruit and the whole episode is just the crew arguing about what they should do with it.

Nami wants to sell it. Chopper and Robin want to study it. Zorro and Sanji want to force feed it to the other just so that they can make fun of them for not being able to swim. Usopp keeps flip-flopping between wanting to eat it to get stronger and going down anxiety spirals of worst case scenarios. Everyone else is kind of just chill about it while Luffy patiently listens to each of their cases.

Luffy also almost eats it on accident several times. In fact one time he does bite into it frightening every member of the crew half to death before they notice a small chunk missing from the other side. In the end it turns out a rat ate it. It grows pigeon wings and flies away or something like that.

There’s so many more people interested in my silly apartment au than I thought?? It’s actually insane?? I’m definitely going to draw some more of them
