Well, that was something!
If you haven't done NaNoWriMo before, I would suggest you try next year if:
you work well/best on a deadline
you have trouble getting motivated
If you have some ideas you want to play with, but you don't have enough that you feel the work can be planned and developed over time, and you want to just run with it
you enjoy a challenge
Definitely doing this again next year. Great job everyone!
Still alive!
The worst part of the month is over, and so hopefully the rest of it will go smoothly. (HAHAHA YEAH RIGHT)
ooohhh lordy.
Just tried to edit my word count for the day so that what I have just written would apply to yesterday's total, and I hadn't written anything yet for "today's writing" so I left it blank...
...and when the page refreshed it sAID 0 WORDS WRITTEN IN MY TOTAL AND -15,945 FOR THE DAY--
--I was able to fix it, but for a moment my mind was just BLIND PANIC.
Couldn't double-down. Barely singled down. Exhausted, like barely awake, and that almost never happens--experiencing mental exhaustion before physical exhaustion is a rarity. Went to bed after 3 last night.
Starting to think that tackling NaNo, grad school, a job, and suddenly becoming deeply invested in Undertale all at once was A Bad Idea.
Woot! 10,000! 1/5 of the way through my journey into madness!
A small preview:
"So. What's so strange about this day? Or, I guess, about you?" Marcus asks, trying to crack the eggshell silence permeating the small car.
Janice says, "I went to the store and the world exploded. And then I became invincible. As you could imagine, I was reasonably surprised."
My first thought: I think I want cereal for breakfast.
My second thought: THERE'S NO TIME FOR CEREAL.
I agree that Dr. Maheswaran has made some really questionable parenting moves, but when exactly did she hurt Connie for no reason? Did I miss something big???
Let’s talk about strict parents.
I had strict parents, ones I yes-ma’am’d and yes-sir’d. What I didn’t have were parents who ever hurt me, no matter how angry their obstinate little shithead of a genius child made them. True, my mother once smashed the DVD player with a pot full of mac’n’cheese, but that’s something we tease each other about to this day, not a source of anger or fear. Like Pearl, sometimes my parents were focused on what they thought was best for me (which, let’s be real, often was) but were never cruel.
I talked a while ago about how the kind of parents a reader was comparing Pearl to treated their children not as children but as parts of their image, and how that was something Pearl never did; all the mistakes she made were born of love, not of a sense of ownership. Now we have a strict parent to compare Pearl to, and even with all of Pearl’s problems, she is a saint compared to what we’re seeing of Dr. Maheswaran. Dr. Maheswaran just hurt her daughter for no reason.
Forgive my crude language, but if this bitch keeps this up, she’s going to be so far into the negatives that I’ll be screaming for Pearl to kidnap Connie.
Oh
when the teacher reading dr.seuss and you realize this dude had some fire in that book
ALL THE TIME.
*starts song over because I wasn’t enjoying it hard enough*
Dog.

I like how Peridot has the personality of basically every Power Rangers villain ever.
Don't you mean neigh?
The end is nigh. EVERYBODY PANIC.
New words to play with.
Aries~ onism (n.) ~ the frustration of being stuck in just one body that inhabits only one place at a time; possessing the ability to live many unique lives, but limited to this one.
Taurus~ pauciloquent (adj.) ~ one who utters few words but offers great depths; divulging the...
