Here comes the next part of the tribe variations! I see you liked my previous post on this topic with Icewings, so here is the continuation. I see most people wanted seawings, and in the wof community people REALLY like seawings variations, so here they are! Who do you want to see next: skywings, leafwings or nightwings?

Mulloway, Shell, and Kuhli are 3 loving SeaWings living in the Sea Kingdom.

Mulloway is a Scout for the SeaWing army, luckily, there hasn’t been much activity from enemy kingdoms, granting him more time at home.

Kuhli is a hunter, making most of her income through selling her catches to her merchant friends, even going further inland for more exotic prey.

Shell is a writer, often drawing from tales Kuhli hears from merchants and traveling dragons. She was blinded in one eye due to an incident in her dragonet-hood, but she’s managed to adapt over the years.

(These guys were partially created to spite that one person on tiktok who started trending for hating poly people. Tho I have always wanted to make poly oc’s so here we are :3)

I've been wanting to redesign Sandwings since I watched Dune part two, that movie got me obsessed with Sandwings and I decided to draw them for a school project.

anatomy- sandwings are quite short compared to other tribes. they have flat bodies covered in spikes similar to thorny devils. they have large barbed tails, the stinger is strong enough to break through bone. Sandwings wings have large feather like structures that can join and separate at will, once separated they will create a rattling sound, sandwings will often rattle their wings as a sign of anger or fear.

unlike other tribes sandwings have partial hairs on their bodies. these are most notable in hatchlings who are covered head to tail in dark micro hairs which are used to protect parasites from digging under their scales. they also have whiskers which can detect changes in weather.

So bascially, in the first book, in the prologue specifically, most of everything is the same. Hvitur is trying to escape with the Skywing dragonet, gets caught by Burn, Burn makes her little speech yeah y'all know that part

But like. After she drops the egg, Hvitur actually manages to escape from the guards and her, and runs to grab the egg. He manages to do so, but he was SO desesperate to save that egg that he forgot he could fly, instead he used his wings to shield the egg and avoid it from getting damaged from the impact. In the end Hvitur still dies in this au sorry not sorry

Kestrel finds Hvitur's dead body and the egg and was quick to grab it before Burn's soldiers arrived, taking it to the caves.

The DoDs hatches in thr brightest night (Starflight still doesn't get powers privileges btw) and yay they (the guardians) fullfilled the prophecy!... Welp, since all of the DoDs are weird af (affectionate ofc <3), so is the Skywing dragonet.

The Guardians did not expect the little female dragonet to be 'odly white', aka albino. They thought her feathers and scales would get its colors after a few months or years but nothing seemed to change. And worse than that, she's partially blind.

How to Spot a Dragon Before it Spots You!

(Written by a human for humans in the Wings of fire universe).

I was inspired by a bird of prey identification poster at my sister's school. It had a very similar layout. I really loved the coloured poses and the multiple silhouettes and thought it would work so well for the Wings of Fire dragons. I'd seen another artist experiment with their wings shapes and wanted to give it a try myself. This is the result! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

All the designs you see here are not final - I drew these without properly planning their full bodies, but the final versions I will try to keep as similar as possible. The only change I might make is the position of their wings. I also won't go back and change this because it doesn't need it. They look good enough like this and, who knows, the changes I make might not be enough that the final designs would be any different. I will be doing a lot of muscle and skeletal anatomy, possibly written in the perspective of a NightWing since they seem like the type to explore the insides of a dragon for science.

This, however, is written in the perspective of a very lucky human who saw these dragons and lived to tell the tale. Or maybe it was a collaborative effort between multiple people adding their own wisdoms, like the Dragon Manual in HTTYD 1. I haven't read Dragonslayer but I think they refer to the dragons as '[element] dragon' (not [Element]Wing at least). I also think that they're not sure RainWings exist (at least according to the 'Here Be Dragons?' over the rainforest, but I didn't want to exclude them from this piece).

The main purpose this guide would serve in-universe would be to help humans identify dragons, preferably before ever being seen. That's why I used a lot of auditory and movement descriptions unique to each tribe, ways that a person could identify a dragon without needing to be close.

I'll be splitting the closeups into 3 and 4 tribes each following this post so you're not scrolling for 10 years (you still will be but I'll try to keep it brief. Will I succeed? No!
