Daminette-- Legends/Roots
Daminette-- Legends/Roots
For @freeze-rae
******************************************************************************************
Damian and Marinette end up on a trip with the Legends of Tomorrow to track an akuma that ended up exactly where it shouldn't be The PAST! (It's like an opposite Timetagger, but not quite Timebreaker.) Somehow. Don't question it. (For those of you who watch Legends, you know how weird that show gets. Just go with it and everything will be fine, just fine) Current Waverider team-- Sara, Nate, Ray, Mick, Charlie, Zari, Mona, Ava (kinda) and Gary (kinda) Who's actually going to be relevant-- Sara, Mick, Ray, and Zari (the others are on their own mission or back at the Time Bureau HQ) Marinette and Damian are a bit reluctant to join the Legends. They respect the team, but they don't understand how they work At All. Both of them are used to a little more discipline, a little more structure. The Legends definitely don't roll like that. Marinette, fortunately, doesn't feel too many of the side effects from first-time time traveling. Damian, however, gets hit with a whole bunch of bad stuff. He does throw up, and he also gets hit with dizziness and speech issues. He hates it. He's basically incapacitated for the entirety of the mission. Poor kid. And where exactly did this mission take them into the past, you may ask? The day Marinette got her Miraculous. (Note: Damian and Marinette are nineteen in this AU, and Marinette got her Miraculous a few months before her fourteenth birthday). Marinette and the Legends have to protect her past from the rogue future akuma and make sure everything goes the way it's supposed to. But it's the Legends. Things don't go well. It gets a little crazy, where Fu almost doesn't give out the Miraculous and past! Marinette almost doesn't even do the thing that makes her worthy of the Ladybug title in Fu's eyes, but somehow things end up working out (albeit a little differently than before, not like Marinette will remember soon enough. It still doesn't change her present too much, though, just her origin story.) When Damian finally recovers (it really hit him hard), Marinette seems a little shaken up, so they go to a guest room on the ship to talk and relax a little, away from the Legends (who are notorious gossips and generally super nosy). They talk a bit about how weird it is to see your life from an outside view, who you were and what you could be (and Damian, though he didn't exactly experience the same thing, recounts the whole Heretic experience as a way of relating to Marinette) After they get home, they're a little more observant of their actions, what butterfly effects could change their lives, as well as being more observant to their own heritages and the cultures they came from. There are a lot of nights where they eat foods from their cultures and dance to their music in their little corner of Wayne Manor, forgetting the world for just a little while.

Run Away-- Timinette
(Warning: This is super angsty and sad but I loved writing it)
Marinette ran away Paris years ago, and never looked back. She barely thought of who she used to be, what her life used to be like, who she used to love.
She had gotten better at feeling emotions since the defeat of Hawkmoth, but it was still hard for her. Repression had become the norm, and there were days where she couldn't feel a thing. Even five years later, going on six, and she was still feeling the effects of her time in the 'City of Love' or 'City of Lights' or whatever people were calling it anymore.
This was one of those bad days.
"Mari? Can you hear me?" her boyfriend asked gently, sensing what was going on. She sat on the couch, staring at a blank TV screen, the lights in the room off but some sunlight peeking in from behind the closed blinds.
"Yeah." Her voice lost its bubbly charm and adorable accent, and her response was clipped. She didn't mean to offend or be rude. It just happened that way.
"I was just saying that I was about to order the pizza for tonight, and I was wondering if you just wanted your usual?"
"Yeah."
"Okay. I love you."
"Tim?"
"Yeah?" Tim rushed to her side, kneeling in front of the couch.
"Hi."
"Hi, Mari," he said, putting a hand over hers. She didn't pull hers away, which was a small victory. "Do you want to come with me to pick up the pizza later?" He usually found that asking her questions, specifically asking her to go places, was helpful for getting responses.
"Stay," she told him.
"Stay in the apartment? Stay on the couch?" She nodded at the second question. "Couch it is. Scootch." He gave her a light shove, and to his surprise she moved over on her own. Another victory.
Once they were situated, with Tim holding Mari in his arms, she spoke again. It was quiet, almost inaudible.
"Please don't leave me."
Tim's heart broke a little. She had told him most of what happened back in Paris that made her like this, but no matter what she said, he had a feeling something worse happened that she repressed so much that she herself could barely remember.
Tim had read the Paris Inquirer's headlines from Marinette's second to last day in the city after she told him the truth about her past:
Chat Noir Dies in Final Battle With Hawkmoth
Twenty-One Year Old Model Adrien Agreste Revealed to be Chat Noir
Gabriel Agreste to Serve Life in Prison
She never talked about Adrien, but he knew. He understood.
"I promise I will never run away from you, Marinette. I'm here for you until the end."
Constantine would totally be such a chaotic dad lol
No matter who his kid was, they'd be proficient in dark arts before they're in middle school, and would swear up a storm (and everyone they met would be appalled and go to John and be like 'why is your sweet little kid swearing like a sailor?' and he'd curse them out)
BIO DAD CONSTANTINE, GO!
Who?

It's a prank war, my dudes! (And I’ll warn you now, it’s gonna be super cheesy, but I had fun with it)
Marinette and Dick have been dating for a few years (like four, probs?) at this point. They're at a great place in their relationship, and they don't fight often.
There is one thing, however, that can't be helped but fought about:
The Prank War.
Started about three months into their relationship when Dick switched the shampoo and conditioner in the manor with purple hair dye to trick his brothers but accidentally got Marinette, the war has become a staple of their relationship. Usually, one of them will prank the other in retaliation about a month after the last prank, to give enough time for the other to forget and be lulled into a false sense of security.
However, this prank is going to blow the rest out of the water.
Why?
Well, because it isn't really a prank at all.
Marinette's latest prank involved a total redo of the most recent Nightwing suit (or what Dick thought was his suit-- it was actually a replica. Marinette was dedicated to the prank, but she wasn't cruel. The real one is hidden away. She won't tell him where it is, not yet), sewing on ladybug-esuqe accents and spray-painting the logo a bright red and the mask a bright pink. Dick totally freaked out, but after he took a few deep breaths he thought it was actually pretty funny.
Dick has been hyping up this prank for weeks. He's been super cryptic and has been throwing out so many red herrings that Marinette is totally freaking out. She's super on edge when Dick isn't in the room, and everyone else notices it.
Dick refuses to tell anyone what he has planned. Literally nobody knows what's happening.
Scratch that.
One person knows-- Alfred. (He helped pick something special out with Dick that he thought Marinette would just adore Mwahhahahaha). Alfred has not said a word, and pretends to be as clueless as the others to keep up the ruse.
***
It's been almost two months since the suit prank. Literally nobody (save Dick) knows when and where and what exactly will happen (Alfred only knows part of the equation).
One fateful day, Dick calls Marinette and tells her to meet him on the roof of the Wayne Gardens building (not in costume, but he doesn't care if she wears it to get there). He also says to wear something generally nice, noting that it shouldn't be anything she wants to get dirty.
Marinette is very confused and worried. This has to be it, right? The big prank?
So she goes, and when she gets there, she sees the roof access door open slightly, with what is very obviously a bucket propped on top of it. Dick is nowhere to be seen.
Marinette walks around the roof, checking for traps and anything that could attack her. Nothing is there.
She does, however, find a note on the floor by the door.
'Come on down!' it reads. Marinette opens the door slowly, taking care not to be in the bucket's range. What she was expecting was water, or syrup, or something else like that. What she found, however, was a key, another note, and confetti.
'Solve the puzzle!' the note read.
So she went downstairs and into the gardens, where she found a little wooden box sitting on a bench. Alone. With nobody around.
Suspicious much?
What Marinette expected: one of those boxes with a fake mouse in it, or a trap that would spray her with silly string or whipped cream when she opened it.
What she found: another note, and a full untouched water balloon.
'Throw me,' it said, with an arrow pointing to the left below the words. Marinette did as instructed, and there it as far as she could in that direction. It landed behind a bush and she heard the splatter, as well as a ringing sound coming from the area.
She walked over and found another note taped to a leaf, this one a little wet (oops).
'Good aim!' it read. 'But hey, where's that noise coming from?'
The ringing changed from an annoying sound to classical music, a song Marinette recognized. It was a song she and Dick had danced to at the gala where they met all those years ago.
She scoured the area for the sound, but it wasn't coming from the room. It was actually coming from a speaker near the glass elevator at the edge of the building, one with yet another note attached.
As fun as this hunt was, Marinette was getting more and more anxious. What was Dick's plan? His endgame? She couldn't figure it out. There was also a chance he was recording her right now, so she stuck a playful middle finger up in the air and smirked. She knew he'd get the message.
'Going down, down, down...' the note read. The elevator itself also had a clue, with an arrow being drawn to point at the third floor.
Marinette pushed the button and the elevator went down, but as it approached it suddenly stopped.
This was it. All of the clues and hype leading up to this. Marinette wasn't too impressed, to be honest.
She opened the little door that held the emergency phone and called the given number.
'Hiya, sweetie!' Dick's voice said through the line.
'Hiya, bastard,' Marinette replied. 'Seriously? All this buildup for an elevator plank? This is honestly kinda sad.'
'Wow, you think so little of me? Nah, this is just a distraction of sorts. A delay. I'm not ready yet.'
'Ready for what?'
'What comes next.'
'That wasn't vague at all!'
'You know I love you, right?' he asked, and Marinette's stomach dropped.
'Richard Grayson, I swear to God. This isn't funny anymore. Are you okay? What's going on?'
'Nothing too exciting. Not yet, anyway.'
'Yet?'
The elevator kicked back into gear, and when the doors opened, Marinette saw Dick, wearing a pink suit, on one knee, holding a ring that Alfred helped him pick out (it had a ruby in it with a rose gold band with a small ladybug and robin etched into the inside. Not too flashy or big, but still intricate, which they knew Marinette would love).
'Marinette Dupain-Cheng, from the moment I met you, I knew you were so special. But it wasn't until you destroyed my Nightwing suit that I realized I was ready to spend the rest of my life with you. I don't even know why that moment made me feel like that-- it's such a weird moment to choose, I know, but-'
Someone cleared their throat in the background, where Marinette couldn't see. Of course the family was watching and helping (they finally knew what was going on now. Dick had sent them the same cryptic messages too, just with less clues to follow.)
'Sorry, I'm rambling. But you know what I mean. And that's why, if you'll take me, I would love to become your husband, your partner in crime- and pranks-, your one and only. Marinette, will you marry me?'
'Yes! Of course, you idiot!' she told him, of course, and when she went to hug him she almost knocked him over (he didn't really have good balance on one leg).
The family cheered in the background.
Marinette just had one little request of her now fiance.
'Can we be done with the crazy pranks for a little while? As much as I loved them, this one drove me crazy.'
'Sure, babe. Mischief managed, for now.' The glint in his eye told her this was only temporary, and she wouldn't have it any other way. She was already planning her next prank-- how to tell him she was pregnant (which she wasn't yet! But it doesn't hurt to plan ahead, right?)

Okay, so this is both a bullet-style answer and some scene, it’ll make sense hopefully
Also I’m tired and don’t want to fix my punctuation and grammatical stuff from when I was writing on the plane

Camp Half-Blood just got a new camper: Marinette Dupain-Cheng, daughter of Morpheus (the god of sleep and dreams and stuff)Damian Wayne has been at camp for a long, long while. He lived with his 'mother' for a while, a woman who wasn't actually his mother but an ex-lover of his father who was able to steal his son before he realized the child existed. When Damian was sent to his father at age nine, Bruce had no clue who he was. He believed what he was told-- Talia was the boy's mother. However, his true mother was a goddess. The goddess of strategy, war tactics, wisdom. Athena. This was revealed to him and his father about two years after his arrival in Gotham, when he started to exhibit abilities beyond a normal child's, along with a strange attraction of paranormal creatures to the city soon after his arrival. The family was visited by a satyr (not Grover-- this, for my own sanity, is taking place way after the PJO stuff. Everything is relatively peaceful rn. Go with it.), who suggested that Damian would be best suited to go to the camp to train and learn more about his heritage. Bruce agreed wholeheartedly, and there he went. He rarely returns to Gotham, and though he would never admit it, he misses the place a bit. He’ll probably go back when he’s of age, to take over the family business his father will undoubtedly leave to him, but for now he was stuck in the middle of what was basically Nowhere, New York. It's been almost seven years since he arrived at camp when Marinette arrives, fully aware of her heritage and what is happening here. She was told when she was young about her true parentage, and was able to home some of her abilities on her own. Her dream and hypnotism capabilities were able to help her defeat Hawkmoth, and she was finally able to leave Paris and know it was safe. She had heard of the camp long before and wanted to visit, but this was her big chance. She would go for the summer, get some specialized training with her siblings, them go to fashion school in New York City in the fall.Damian and Marinette met by chance. It was her first Capture the Flag, and surprisingly, her team left her in charge of the flag. She was the final defense.Everything was going fine until Marinette heard a rustling in the bushes. Out came Damian, brandishing a sword and shield, letting out a battle cry.It was an intense sight, to say the least.Marinette may not have been as skilled with a sword, but she did have a few tricks up her sleeve. After a few minutes of fighting, Marinette had pinned Damian down on the grassy ground below them, both panting and looking at each other with a mixture of confusion and admiration.'Impressive, for a newbie,' Damian told her.'I’m just going to take that as a compliment,' she told him. 'And nice try.''Thanks, but I wasn't really trying to get the flag.'Oh, no.When Marinette turned around to check on the flag, she saw one of Damian's teammates, a girl named Allegra (daughter of Apollo) running away with the flag. Marinette groaned.'Guess you still have some stuff to learn, huh?' Damian told her before flipping her over so he was on top of her. 'Maybe next week.'When he got up and left, Marinette just sat on the ground for a few minutes, processing what had happened. She really had to up her game next week to impress that guy (she really thought he was cute, but also she hated him now because he tricked her in combat and that means war). Enemies to lovers ensues.
