Hello hello, been a while! So, I know the engines can go between human form and train form, and I imagine that goes as well for coaches like Annie and Clarabel. Now, my question is, what happens if they try to turn human when they have passengers? Like, do they minimize? Do they get sent to a pocket dimension? So many questions, so little space!

Well, the best way to describe how they transform and what happens to the people is this gif which is the first illustrations on my pinned post with basic engine HCs —

Their form disperses into particles of ‘Dust’ and reforms their new body. The engines have some control over where their human/engine form ends up once reformed. For example, an engine can be standing on the platform in human form, transform right there and carry themselves over to end up ready on the tracks without issue. Or transform whilst on the tracks to stand on the platform etc. It can get them out of a pickle when they’re in for a head on collision for instance. They can’t travel far at all but don’t have to transform and be in the same exact place as before.

So if a coach has passengers inside them, or an engine has someone in their cab when they transform, they basically disappear around the passenger into a bunch of pretty particles which then reform next to them. Which is why it’s not usually safe to do this, considering the passengers would basically fall out of thin air as the coach interior isn’t ground level (unless they can catch them from mid air but i dunno if you can do that with more than one person.)
