A Simple, SmilingHello Can Improve Someones Day For At Least The Next Three Minutes. In That Three Minutes

A simple, smiling “Hello” can improve someone’s day for at least the next three minutes. In that three minutes they could have enough positive feelings that they smile a “Hello” at someone else.  Now, the first person’s positivity has been reinforced for at least another 10 minutes. Can you imagine how much better their whole day could be now that you’ve set the “Hello” ball rolling? :-) -- MamaLibra

Giving Up Indifference for Lent

by Jim Wallis

Here is what Pope Francis said to the world in his Lenten message:

"Indifference to our neighbor and to God also represents a real temptation for us Christians. Each year during Lent we need to hear once more the voice of the prophets who cry out and trouble our conscience."

Instead of giving up chocolate or alcohol for Lent, the pope seems to want us to give up our indifference to others. He continued:

"We end up being incapable of feeling compassion at the outcry of the poor, weeping for other people's pain, and feeling a need to help them, as though all this were someone else's responsibility and not our own."

Stop comparing where you’re at with where everyone else is. It doesn’t move you farther ahead, improve your situation, or help you find peace. It just feeds your shame, fuels your feelings of inadequacy, and ultimately, it keeps you stuck. The reality is that there is no one correct path in life. Everyone has their own unique journey. A path that’s right for someone else won’t necessarily be a path that’s right for you. And that’s okay. Your journey isn’t right or wrong, or good or bad. It’s just different. Your life isn’t meant to look like anyone else’s because you aren’t like anyone else. You’re a person all your own with a unique set of goals, obstacles, dreams, and needs. So stop comparing, and start living.

There is a TeamMona board on Pinterest called "Reality Check" that I like because it reminds me of the futility of comparing one's self to others. We must learn to set our own standards and be our own persons. ❤️
