Doing a quick scroll-through of some name sites for Shapur's mother and I've collected a bunch of appealing options:

Okay, okay. This made me bust out the maps again because:

Granted, Kubard could've just meant south relative to Daylam but I'd pretty much ended up interpreting the south as Zott territory in no small parts thanks to this exact piece of dialogue so hm. Hm. How'd they get so far south (I don't remember if a time/date was provided, my oversight. I'll need to check the novel timeline)

Skipping a couple scenes ahead, we learn that the Kashan fortress is just north of the Nimruz mountains (in fact, we see it with a literal backdrop of mountains in this panel) and can be interpreted as pretty south even if not south south.

So I guess the Zott territory is somewhere within this circle?? I guess that kinda makes some form of sense since bandits would like to be near travel paths where they could rob people so...

I am in love with this!!!! This is so amazing!!!

Tried my hand at designing a collective sigil for the Marda clan as a whole (because individuals don't have crests) thanks to seeing @importantdestinydefendor 's crest design and being inspired by it.

It's a stylized pine tree flanked by mountains, with phases of the moon up above.

I am not satisfied with this, this was just me testing the waters and my god was this thing fucking stressful to draw. I don't ever wanna do it again.

Arslan's crest in this AU would bear similarities to this, albeit with the borders/circle of Shapur and Isfan's crests, a bird replacing the mountains and pine tree (though maintaining the general silhouette and the details on the pine). I'm not gonna draw it anytime soon, it was really stressful T_T
