It's Been Awhile Since I Used 'clean' Lineart In My Illustrations And Considering That, It Turned Out
It's been awhile since I used 'clean' lineart in my illustrations and considering that, it turned out quite well.

Just two gals being pals ✨
So, this took me waay longer than I thought as I greatly underestimated the time it would take me to paint two figures instead of (my usual) one. I really like the colour scheme, purple and orange-ish tones go very well together apparently. Also please ignore the weird placement of the arm, I had already merged all the layers when I noticed anything wrong with it and at that point I was simply too lazy to change it. That, and the fact that I just cannot draw any facial expressions beyond 'melancholic boredem' and 'vaguely alluded to happiness'

I thought I´d try experimenting around with colours a bit, and turns out I am quite pleased with the results. The anatomy is a bit whack tho, but that applies to most of my illustrations as I still have a lot to learn in that regard.

I decided to go with lineart and a combination of soft and cell shading, as I have neither the time nor the energy to do a full-on painting right now. I must say that I quite enjoyed doing those little art nouveau inspired "loops" in the hair :). I have to admit that whilst I like the composition and colour scheme of this illustration, I'm not a huge fan of the shading and anatomy, especially the rather stylized face in combination with those creepy, waaay-too-detailed hands.
I still have not learned how to properly draw clothing folds, especially those found on the sleeve of a shirt, so please excuse the mess that I drew :/

Another attempt at 'clean' lineart, this time I kept all the lineart the same colour instead of adjusting it according to the basecolour. Speaking (or rather writing?) of colour, I originally planned to paint the central character in all orange colours, but that turned out a bit bland, so I added more variety in hue and saturation, hopefully that makes it look a bit better. As for shading, I struggled a lot, first I tried to go with my usual, more 'painterly' style of shade, but that looked over- rendered, then I tried cellshading, but that, too, just seemed kind of weird. I briefly considered just uploading it without any shading at all, but in the end I settled for this sort of soft, barely noticible style, and I think it looks okay.

I have pretty much accepted that there is little to no stylistic consistency between my illustrations..
