I had this idea for a Human Bill Cipher design in my head for a while so this morning I decided to get around to doodling it (all I usually have the energy to do is mspaint doodles, I'm not really much of a typical artist type) and honestly I'm pretty proud of it.

Hot take of the day is I don't think "human Bill Cipher" being a reasonably attractive skinny white guy was ever an inherently bad concept, it works for him honestly. People just fumbled on the execution and did it in the least imaginative/appropriate way (aka the generic "hazbin hotel" twink way) because the "palette" for sexymen wasnt as broad back when Gravity Falls was airing*. (The recent hubbub about "old man yaoi" and people posting about 61-year-old Bob Odenkirks smoochers would probably be unthinkable to the tumblr of that era if I've got my facts straight).

But yeah I think this design really works, he's not conventionally attractive but not unattractive either, like, on the cusp of twinkdeath, it's believable that he'd be charming and a bit silly, but also twisted, skeevy, and manipulative.

The kinda guy who buys expensive clothes but doesn't take great care of them, or himself for that matter, a little out-of-shape from a life of decadence and debauchery, neck a little fat from eating carelessly but still thin from constantly moving around and neglecting to eat the rest of the time because god dammit this man has severely unmedicated AuADHD or something along those lines.

His hairdos inspired by the dude from Eraserhead, on theme with gravity being inspired by twin peaks, another work by David Lynch

cannot be fucked rn to draw his full outfit but his full pose is something like this and he's wearing a frock coat, black flared pants, black boots, and white spats.

*EDIT: with all due respect the doctor who or any other live-action tv fandoms were ahead of the curve on this, but thats sort of a matter of course

I fucking adore this kind of attention to detail with the clothing that characters wear and when its actually rendered well both in structure and in drape its just such a treat

this is also part of why lackadaisys art style is so good and in at least this one respect objectively fucking better than most cartoons, helluva/hazbin especially included (because my god for shows where the main cast consists of like 60% twinks in suits nobody involved can draw or design a good suit worth a damn where my autistic menswear nerd ass is concerned)

Hello! I wanted to ask if you got any inspiration for Machete’s outfits? I would love to find an outfit similar to one of theirs for personal wear but I can never find anything that similar.

Most of his canon outfits are just slightly modified cardinal's cassocks.

Jehan Georges Vibert's paintings have been a recurring inspiration.

The buttoning on his shoes is visually reminescent to late 19th/early 20th century boots and spats.

I stopped caring about Helluva Boss a long time ago (like anyone with taste would) but it did inspire me to think about what I'd do better and how, and because of that I've done quite a few redesigns, which seems to be a common thing with -i won't say fans- but people who followed helluva boss for however long they could tolerate it.

In particular I was really pissed off (again, like anyone with taste would be) at the human design for Stolas in that one episode of Helluva Boss and generally unsatisfied with how unrealistically twinkish most of the human designs for Blitzo were so I did my own take on both of them, going for a wonky nick cave/super hans-esque visage for blitzo and something more appropriately DILFy for Stolas.

like lets be real blitzo spent his 20s smoking, boozing, partying and schmoozing and doesn't seem like the type to have a great self care routine, he would NOT look like a perfectly preserved twink with no wrinkles or hair recession at 35 no way no how, and stolas has been stressed and worn down from like the day he was born even at his (very stupid retcon of an) age of 35 he'd probably have greyed just a little maybe idk

as for their outfits, blitzo totally wears shit like orphaned suit blazers, snakeskin belts, and skinny black jeans (not pictured are his middle-finger sole jeffery west cowboy boots) and i've always headcanoned the weird skull thing he wears on his neck as a bolo tie because western rock'n'roll-y stuff like that feels up his alley.

Stolas, in place of the generic steampunk goth cosplay store shit his official human design wears, is of course wearing a brass button navy blazer, grey wool pants, and a silk ascot (plus some bracelets a token gay little earing) because theres no way he's not old-money-WASP-coded as fuck and I think it does well to illustrate his economic and cultural distance from Blitzo. Costume design, people, It says things.
