A few Junkrat related musings

Just keeping up with new OW2 lore implications.

. His mom passed away and he seriously misses her a lot. Probably means he’s an only child and has no living relatives.

. He likes the snow. (Maybe they’ll mention that in PVE story mode if he has any interactions with Mei.)

. He’s the smartest dumb guy on the roster with a knack for engineering and tinkering. He’d make a great apprentice for Torbjorn.

. He may be considering going legit again... and it might put a rift between him and Hog temporarily.

I had this strange dream that I got into a vocational school and my classmates were from video games I'd played before. The class I went to was Mechanical Engineering and two of the students with the best grades were Junkrat and Mei. Needless to say, I woke up confused and wondering if I could continue this dream somehow.

Ever wonder why Junkrat’s teeth are oddly well aligned? Like, sure, they’re kinda dirty and he obviously doesn’t brush his teeth often (or at all). But why are they perfectly aligned and all accounted for?

Had a random thought about Junkrat’s parents . . .

They aren’t important to J’s story, but I feel they had to have been around at some point in his life since he was about 5 when the Omnium exploded. Maybe the father joined the Australian Liberation Front (ALF militia) and died, but the mother was left behind to care for Jamie.

The random thought was more along the lines of Jamie’s mom would try to collect any stragglers suffering from radiation, bringing supplies and so on (since the Outback would be fenced off and quarantined from the rest of Aus) and thereby creating the first Junkers.

The whole time, Jamie’s mom would start to show signs of radiation poisoning, to the point where she had to leave Jamie in the care of someone else. So, like, she’d somehow get him to sleep (maybe rocking him in her arms or something) and once he was asleep, she’d sneak off somewhere. You never want your child to see you sick or dying.

So, as far as Jamie knew, she was just off getting supplies somewhere and had yet to return. After a few years, he probably forgot about it because of how the radiation screwed with his brain (he’s shown signs of terrible memory before) and has been on his own until meeting Roadhog 18 or so years later.

Also, another thought, maybe Roadhog knew Junk’s parents before they died, since he was in the ALF and one of the first Junkers. He probably feels responsible for Junkrat in a way, but also blames the rest of the world for stripping this boy of his life so young. So now, he let’s the chaos of this kid speak for the Junkers, forcing them to acknowledge what they’d done.

I wonder if Junkrat ever thinks about his parents. He’s certainly seen kids with their parents before. He probably doesn’t care, but some part of him might.
