#192: Why Write?

For a long time, writing was pretty much the only way for your ideas to spread. You had to go to a publisher who put your piece inside their magazine or printed an edition of your book.

Then the Internet came along. Computers went from tasteless pieces of humming furniture to become extensions of our brains. These days, your options as a creator are unlimited. You can make TikToks and YouTube videos. You can record podcasts, build apps or design games that have the potential to reach millions of people around the world.

There have never been so many things to do. With the abundance of options, people have less and less time to read. There’s more competition than ever before. So why even bother? Why should you be writing instead of pursuing something more modern?

Writing is Efficient

Despite all the progress in graphics and multimedia, most people still prefer the written word because it’s efficient. A video runs at a certain speed and has to digested in sequence. You can read paragraph slower or faster, depending on how fast a reader you are.

Writing remains the dominant way to communicate online. It’s here to stay.

Writing is Intimate

No other medium allows you to get inside the protagonist’s head quite the same way. Writing a story from the first person POV allows your readers to experience what you did from the same perspective. This makes us recognise and accept the differences between people.

Writing is Simple

You don’t need any fancy tools or equipment. You can write anything by simply showing up and doing the work.

You can make anything by writing.

Writing Makes You a Better Thinker

Writing things down helps you make up your mind and process your thoughts. Many writers say that they often don’t know what they think unless they write it down.

Is It Worth It?

The chances of commercial success may be slim, but that doesn’t mean that all this is a waste of time.

Even if you don’t go on to become the next Stephen King, being able to tell a good story is invaluable no matter what you do. There’s no downside to learning to write well.

The only problem is that you’ll need to learn it yourself. Writing teachers can direct you to the right door, but you’ll have to go through alone. They will teach you about writing, but you’ll have to have the discipline and put the hours in yourself.

So is it worth it? Absolutely.

You have no idea how many people lurk on your work. No idea how many times people go back to revisit your work. How big they smile when they simply think about your work. How fast their heart beats, how excited they get when they see that you posted something.

People are shy with their feedback. Sometimes it’s because they’re simply shy. Other times it’s because they assume you already know how great and talented you are. Could be both.

My point is, even if you barely have any likes or reblogs, don’t get discouraged. You have a lot of silent fans, but they are still your fans. Keep on creating. Because there is always someone out there who will love what you have made.

Being a ruler for some, would be a blessing. Others would shudder with just the possibility of said position. After all, isn’t the crown the most desperate for blood?

Unlike wild animals, humanity has long hunted for more than they could ever need. It happens so often that people would say that greed was the worst trait for a ruler, but little do people like to admit, greed was something that was inevitable. Everyone has at least some greed inside of them, either burying or flaunting it as their unique trait.

Y/N L/N, the current ruler of Corea was yet to be an exception. Though, they have enough conscience to at least hide it and be a decent ruler.

Using their right palm to steady their head, they continued to look over the countless ministers standing in front of them as the regular audience continued to take place.

“ Your majesty, we need to send troops to the east to defend our borders immediately.”

The eastern border connected Corea to the ancient nation that owns the eastern sea. As a result, those people were extremely arrogant and deemed themselves superior because of the amazing achievements that their ancestors have done years ago.

“ The eastern bastards are causing trouble again?” Y/N asked, annoyed.

The ministers couldn’t help but flinch hearing profanities come out of the monarch’s mouth. Everyone knows that such words could not be said during a formal meeting but who were they to lecture the monarch?

Question,

Would you prefer a blog for each fandom or just a blog for everything?

I know that my current audience is leaning towards kpop—BTS but I also want so branch out my work to other fandoms as well.

Benefits:

- more organize

- focus on a specific fandom

- easier to distinguish

Disadvantage:

- me being away for periods of time, working on other fandoms; this blog being inactive for said period of time

- content will be out less often with me managing multiple blogs

Most of my works will be major projects— lengthy chapters or even series. Not even sure if I’ll do requests in the future.

Is anyone interested in a The Untamed/Mdzs/GDC fic?

Was thinking of doing a retell of the story but in an OC/Reader POV ( probably female ). This will be a clash of events from the storyline and ones created specifically for the OC.

Simple synopsis:

[__], daughter of an elder from the Huanghu Shangu Hong, has finally been grant permission to officially enter the cultivation world. At the age of ten, [__] set off to travel the entirety of Jinshui empire and finishing their route at the age of thirteen.

Deciding that travelling all of Jinshui wasn’t enough, [__] decided to travel to Zhongguo(China). Deciding to stop at Gusu Lan Clan first, [__] managed to meet the Twin Jades. Without knowing it, [__] became entangled in their fate.

So anyone interested? It’s just an idea that was sticking in my head. Not even sure if it will make it to reality even. Gosh, I’m not even sure if I will include romance or just a figure that overwatches the characters.
