I understand that they may not want to reveal their relationship to the public due to privacy concerns, but at the same time, I think it would lift a burden off their shoulders if they did. At this point everyone knows and no one really cares so wouldn't everything be easier for them? idk

hm idk. because i think there would be downsides to them confirming their relationship status and honestly at this point i'm not sure how much of a benefit it would be to them? like aside from the fact that they wouldn't be "hiding" i don't think that them explicitly confirming their relationship would change the way that they behave at all. i don't think they would start like posting pics of them kissing or writing long instagram captions about their relationship yk. i think that in the ways that matter, they already aren't hiding. they're open about the fact that they own a home together. they're open about the fact that they want a dog together (compare this to like 7 odd years ago when dan was talking abt what dog breeds they want and then he was like "or whatever dog phil wants in his life" 💀). in a universe where they have confirmed their relationship, i don't think they would be acting much differently, so i'm not sure there's necessarily a burden on their shoulders atp

and while i agree no one cares in the sense that like, they wouldn't break the internet and they wouldn't lose fans or smth like that, i do think that it would open the door to the general public/journalists feeling more entitled to details about their personal life which i think they want to avoid. as phil said, once that door is open, it's hard to shut it

(this all being said, phil himself said he didn't think coming out would be a big deal until he actually did it and he was like wow that was a relief i didn't know i needed. so maybe one day they will be more explicit and it'll make a difference that they weren't anticipating! so idk)
