MerMay 2024 prompts by @mossypidder The art behind the prompts shows the ghost of a humpback whale mermaid rising up from her skeletal remains that are half buried in the sand of the beach below. She is facing away from the viewer and she has long, curly hair and scars on her back. It is high tide and her bones are partially submerged in water. The sea stretches away at the bottom of the painting and the sky stretches above; both grey and overcast. The general mood of the painting is sort of a sad acceptance, if that makes sense. I was putting my pin curls in while Nugget was out last night and she kept jumping on my hand to try and steal my bobby pins. And then she proceeded to try and bathe in the back of my wet hair. As annoying as it was, it made me happy, so I doodled it.

I have a migraine, but really wanted to draw, so it needed to be dark, and this is what happened. Mable is so fun to draw, idk why. She just is. She’s probably either just woken up from a nightmare, or it’s two AM and she hasn’t fallen asleep because night thoughts.
