WELL, SHIT.

WELL, SHIT.
So, Kosa is almost certainly going to pass the Senate, almost entirely just as bad and censorious as it ever was, but, that just means we need to take the fight to The House of Representatives, because that's where it's going now.
So, find your reps' numbers here and call them ASAP.
And this is bipartisan too, it's not just the Dems that might be swayed against this due to the well documented threats to LGBTQ people it presents, I'm sure even the right-wingers would not be happy to sign on a bill that's likely to lead to government-mandated facial scans for everyone using the net., along with the encroachment of actual big-government on our freedom of speech.
So, call now, call often, and if you want a further follow-through on this, there's a discord server organizing to fight this that you can join here.
And of course, as per usual, I make this poster available under a CC0 Public Domain License for anyone to use, complete with added QR-codes for use in actual physical prints. Now hop to it!

Kosa is the most horrifying thing to think about. Sometimes I want to forget about it but I know that won’t stop it from flying through congress and into law.
Teens will not have ways to learn about what’s happening in the world. Marginalized groups will not have the internet spaces that they do. Mental and sexual health will be censored. Activism will be censored. Everything important that you care about is going to be censored. They do this on purpose, especially to the youth, to keep us uninformed and unrepresented.
I don’t have the words to express how much this scares me. This will impact us all regardless of age, but for now I’m still a minor and it’s even scarier. I have friends younger than me who will have to endure it for longer than I do. I’m completely terrified because we are about to be trapped.
OKAY SO GOOD NEWS: THE KOSA HEARING HAS APPARENTLY BEEN MOVED TO MARCH 13-16 INSTEAD!! WE STILL HAVE PLENTY OF TIME!!!
THAT BEING SAID, WE STILL DEFINITELY NEED TO MAKE SURE THAT IT'S NOT GOING TO PASS!!
For Palestines sake.
For Yamens sake.
For Congos sake.
For LGBTQIA+ kids and adults alike.
For everyone.
FUCK OFF KOSA, AND FUCK OFF AMERICA!
please, actually READ KOSA.
KOSA will not require your government ID. It's still a terrible bill that can be used to hide useful information for abuse victims and queer kids but it will not require your ID. It doesn't mention anywhere requiring your government ID
please actually know what the bill says before posting about it,
Just wanted to take a moment to say that if KOSA passes on the 26th, it won't be a law yet. It is in the senate, and will still need to pass in the house. If KOSA passes on the 26th, do not panic, simply start contacting your representatives in the house en masse to tell them to oppose KOSA.
Good news! Kosa isn't being introduced to the senate until March 13-16,
so my American friends, PLEASE for the love of god call your reps and tell them you don't want this shit to pass because this bill is gonna fuck up the internet as we know it and the majority of us that use the internet can't do shit because we're not American
Edit: If you want to track the bill specifically you use this S.1409 - 118th Congress (2023-2024): Kids Online Safety Act | Congress.gov | Library of Congress link. For when the senate specifically will look at the kosa bill and other bills/other stuff, use this Committee Schedule for 02/27/2024 | Congress.gov | Library of Congress link. Kosa was supposed to be deliberated on 27, but there is no schedule with it on, so it was definitely pushed back, though the actual time of when it will be deliberated is so far unknown.
And if someone, who isn't american, can figure this stuff out with a couple of google searches, so can you! So my american friends, please stay informed on this matter.
