we live through hundreds of personal apocalypses

every time we keep going simply because it didn't kill enough of us to stick

we often keep laboring through existence trying to live because of sheer inertia

we die, fall asleep, wake up and go about our day trying not to die again

just because you aren't living doesn't mean you're exempt from hunger or base bodily functions, they aren't polite enough to let the dead brood

sometimes you even succeed in finding some life in yourself, but last time you did you spent it trying to reconcile and heal from the time you spend dead or dying and when you finally look up another existential disaster came through, so this time you try something else, or you try to balance healing with living

sometimes we live when we expect to be dying, sometimes we fall apart when we get the opportunity to exist without a festering wound that was forced on us

we find beauty in the mundane, and horror in the wonderful, joy in things we understand and in that which we don't, nuance and complexity that can be captured and simplicity that can't

an apocalypse that blinds your soul isn't seen by another

you can still see

sometimes you die and keep living

rarely is it the same life

as I’ve got older I’ve realised the literal worst or most life destroying thing can happen and then u wake up the next day and it’s like. Ok now what
