Jean’s words

“You like him don’t you?” His words came from out of the blue, so much so that Mikasa could only stare at his straight face. His expression was mute; the forlorn in his voice was silent. He was simply there beside her, gazing out into the open. It would do neither of them good - his looking at her. His eyes would so easily betray him. 

The ebony beauty, the same woman his eyes unconsciously sought in every room, doesn’t give him a reply. And this makes the wrenching in his gut intensify. 

Amid the tightness in his chest, he surprises himself by continuing to speak. “Our days are numbered, some less than others.” He pauses, finally saying, “…being the strongest doesn’t change that.” 

“I know.” She suddenly says in a whisper before hiding away into her scarf. “I know.” She repeats. 

“Then,” Jean finally musters the courage to face her. Again, he is stricken by her beauty. The water in her eyes glittered. Her long, unruly ebony hair contrasting her white face, the pink flush on her face, her full red lips - no one, no one compared to her. “Tell him.” He nearly chokes. 

Nevertheless, the sad smile that greets his sentiment was more than enough a distraction. 

“What’s the point?” 

He freezes at her words; her words painfully rang in his ears. Did she have a clue just how much it ached - being unable to confess; facing an undoubted rejection? No. She had no idea. She could have anything and everything. Had he been the one - had he been him, there was nothing more he would assure. Out of all they’ve accomplished - now, about this, she hesitates, she doubts.

“You said it so yourself, our days are numbered.” She turns away, a wistful expression played on her exotic features.  “It would do neither of us any good.” 

His fists tighten. A rage fills him. “What?” He grits, trying to quell the heat growing in him. “What bullshit is that?”

Mikasa’s gaze turns to him, surprise in her eyes. 

“Of all I thought you were, coward was never one of them. What crap excuse is that - our days are numbered. Everything we’ve achieved in this war - we got it because we strove, persevered for it. We may be in constant battle, we may be soldiers - but that doesn’t take away our humanity - that doesn’t take away the fact that we deserve to live. There are only a few of us lucky enough to fall in love, to find that something that will make the passing days; this battle - worth it. And you, you, tell me - it would do you no good. If I were lucky enough - to even have a morsel of your affection - do you have a clue how happy that would make me? Imagine how he’d feel then - to know how much you love him. You’d deny him that incomprehensible happiness - just because you’re a coward?” Jean’s glare doesn’t leave even when he finished. He had no idea he was panting. All that registered was the shaken expression on Mikasa’s face. A guilt crept into his system - but, it was far from conquering the anger, the frustration he felt. “That man - he’s never had a family. I don’t even think he’s ever been loved like we had been; like we’re being loved.” His expression softens, a thought occurring. “Imagine how happy he’d be,” He starts to smile. “To know you love him.” 

Mikasa says nothing after. Not in the later seconds that seemed to last a lifetime. Not in the following minutes that dragged by. Her tears, her silence was enough a reply. 

The young man reaches out for her and hides her sobbing in his tender embrace. He turns away in a gesture of privacy and directs his gaze at the dawning sun before them. 

Today, he thought, was going to be the same; the tears, the sweat, the blood. But, he; he would be different. And he prayed - Mikasa would be too.

I haven't seen the 2003 anime, so my opinion is might be a little bit biased. I think that many people don't understand that the brotherhood Roy is a really good actor who has two faces: the selfish womanizer with an immense amount of arrogance and the protective man who seeks his redemption in helping his country. The latter is 'the real Roy'. He does feel torn after the war (manga portrays this better) but he doesn't let his guilt stop him in his redemption. He wants to become the Fuhrer for that purpose! I could write pages about him throwing away his vengeance for the sake of his goal! My point: Brotherhood Roy is a good man who uses his guilt and regret as a fuel that moves him to redemption and a new beginning. And that is honestly one of the most inspiring things I have seen.

When it comes to Edward, I don't really see many problems with him. He is a cunning boy who has a strong moral code (he never killed a person) mixed with the determination of fixing his mistake. He has a complex about his height, which many take as a comic relief thing, but in reality it puts Edward down and is one of his insecurities. He's a little bit awkward and a huge nerd. He wants to be there for his brother. Ed tries to be 'cool' all the time and never cries. There are so many analyses about this character and the certain things he'd done a certain way. When he gave up his gate, you could really see how grown up he was. Unlike so many protagonists, Edward gave up the VERY power that made him special and 'lowered himself to a mere human'. But how does he see it? Edward accepts it. His humanity. He thinks that no matter what power they had, humans will always make the same mistakes with it, therefore proving that they're nothing more than just humans. Edward is a human who went from being obsessed with alchemy to a human who realized what he is.

How can FMA 2003 have a better Ed and Roy, it doesn't have the scene with Roy not killing Envy or Ed defeating Pride

I mean…

I don’t really think Ed defeating Pride was a particularly defining moment of his character, so while losing it might be less cool in some way “makes Ed a less good character” wouldn’t be one of them?

2003 Ed and manga Ed are very different characters, they’re both pretty great, but I like 2003 Ed more? And I think he’s a more unusual character. I love how he cries all the freaking time. I love that he’s both a very emotional guy and a rationalist who’s obsessed with being RASHKONAL and how his views can EXPLAINZ EVERYTHING but he’s still not ashamed to show his emotions–like that’s kind of a weird combination.

As to Roy, that was a powerful moment, but the reason I prefer 2003 Roy is because it focuses more on his guilt and less on his vengeance. I find that the most interesting aspect of his character. There are a lot of characters who explore the vengeance narrative already, like Scar.

Comic Pages Storyboard Tutorial

OKAY SO! @biazerod asked me a little help on storyboarding and i decided to make this tutorial…i’m not a professionist. so don’t take these as golden rules…just advices!  and as always sorry for the english  FIRST THING FIRST! the storyboard part is the most important phase in a comic page !  you can spend an entire day storyboarding! because it’s the structure, the essence of the page!  here’s some tips : 1- a page can start from 1 panel/frame (called splash page!) until how many f*cking panels you can fit ! (some pages , especially in french comics/bd  can reach 24 panels/frames!) Exaple of splash pages: 

(these are from the green lantern,DC and the newest Thor ,marvel ) Splash pages are a priority of American comics, you rarely can find them in french Bd ! they represent a scene of impact! a fight! a revelation! be careful! use it only one if two times on a range of 50 pages! cuz it cut the narration!  instead in french bd  you find this :

first one is from Blacksad 2# and second one is from Atar Gull  see how high the number of the frames is??  the number of frames is very important in a page because it decide the narration time! :D also it all depends on the kind of ‘’direction’’ you want to use on your comic! so be really careful when you decide the number of the frame!  LET’S PASS ON THE CREATION!  1- when you have a page that contains more than 3 Frames ALWAYS. ALWAYS HAVE AN ESTABLISHING SHOT! 

the establishing shot is fundamental! BECAUSE READERS CAN UNDERSTAND WHERE THE CHARACTERS ARE!  DON’T DO A COMIC PAGE FULL OF FACES ! 

DON’T DO THIS! LET THE CHARACTER BREATH! LET THE READER BREATH! PLAY WITH YOUR CAMERA! YOU HAVE THE POWER!  in a comic page, is important to put the camera far away from the character most of the time! play with the different shots!  

(found this on google)  WATCH MOVIES AND TV SHOWS.  lot of them can help you so much you have no idea!  a comic artist and a director do the same job when creating a story 2- Candy eye this is a tricky trick that can help you with the audience! when a character is saying something important or you have to introduce them , USE THE CANDY EYE DUDE. 

the candy eye is , basically, a bust shot where you show the character,their features , usually with a cool or a funny expression ( or of course it depends from the situation) and believe me WORKS 10/10 with the audience ;)  3- HIGHLIGHTS THE IMPORTANT SCENE IN THE PAGE! 

FINAL TIPS:  - when you’re doing dinamic poses try and try again! the first one isn’t always the best!  -USE REFERENCES. -A STORYBOARD PAGE CAN REQUIRE EVEN 4 HRS IF NOT AN ENTIRE DAY IF NOT AN ENTIRE WEEK. REMEMBER THAT THE STORYBOARD IS THE ESSENCE. AND THE REST IS DECORATION. - IMAGINE THE SEQUENCE! NOT THE SINGLE PAGES.  THINK IN SEQUENCES! imagine what would happen after the page you are creating! connect the various pages NOT THE SINGLES FRAMES !  YOU’RE CREATING A STORY! NOT A SINGLE ILLUSTRATION!  -AGAIN DON’T DO PAGE OF FACES. most important thing: 

if the page you’re creating it stresses you! STOP. continue it when you are in a better mood ,dude. our job requires lot of time and effort, but it should be the job we love.  so don’t stress yourself and keep calm. hope this is useful. don’t take this as golden rules, this is just the way i work :)

Jeankasa?

TFW you do a ship meme entirely for the opportunity to talk about Jeankasa.

1. My take on their canon relationship: Jean has a crush on Mikasa that preserved through their training years together; he’s attracted to her but he still respects her talents without feeling emasculated by them. Jean sees situations for what they are, and right from the start it is clear that Mikasa prioritizes Eren. Yet Jean doesn’t resent her for this. He admires her, worries about her more than she does herself, doesn’t think Eren appreciates her as much as he should. Despite his feelings, he doesn’t hesitate to give her the business when he has to (which speaks more to Jean’s character than Jeankasa per say). Where we last saw them in the story, I think Mikasa grew to respect and trust Jean as a comrade. She doesn’t reciprocate his feelings (but I still have hope).

2. Do I ship them: Hi I’m Stasia and Jeankasa destroyed my life (yes).

3. Reasons why I do/don’t ship them: I just…  love how Jean adores her in canon. Like.. he acknowledges that she surpasses him in badassery by about 100% but it only contributes to how he feels about her. Additionally I think Jean could be the exact type of family Mikasa is looking for. He’s such a softy and I don’t think a day would pass where he wouldn’t do anything and everything he could to make her happy. Everything about the two of them makes me want to implode. 

4. Headcanon, if any: Even if Mikasa wasn’t so clearly about Eren, I don’t think canon Jean would make a move on her. I headcanon him to view her as the type of person he’d never have a shot with.

5. How much do I ship: I actively ship these two. Fanart, fanfics, you name it, I’m on it.

Light sat down in complete awareness of the cameras. He opened the bag of potato chips, smiling for himself like a smug bitch that he is. Yes. This plan will work perfectly. No one can stop him enjoying his justice fetish from the comfort of his room. The invasive detective would never expect something of this sort, that Kermit's bastard. Light put the bag and his books on the table. It was incredibly amusing, how his greatest enemy will be his main witness. Light knew he was awesome, but today he surprised even himself. Light's plan involved hiding a mini TV inside of his potato chips, where he'll be watching the news. Then, he'll write down the names while appearing to solve equations. This plan was hella expensive, but Light knew deep down in his empty ribcage- he didn't want to die. He started looking diligent as always, solving equations on his right, writing names, purifying the world. He took a potato chip, and, ATE IT! He knew that if this was a scene from a movie, or those cool anime shows that he watches because he's Japanese (kawaii ^_^), it would have some really badass latin-chanting music. Barbie always told him to follow his dreams, to believe. She was his childhood, and she can shove it up her ass, because Light became a man today. He'll soon become the GOD OF THE NEW WORLD!!!

there are like a dozen death note visual adaptations. do you know what i want? i want a death note novel adaptation. someone get me an author who writes three 500 page - books about light’s journey. who the fuck even needs movies?? i want books!
