Why Does The Whole Featured Tags Organization Thing On Tumblr Work So Badly,, Like I Tried Organizing
Why does the whole featured tags organization thing on tumblr work so badly,, like i tried organizing my stuff by tags and when i look up a tag it has posts in it that aren't tagged with that tag??? As an autistic person who lives for organization I'm simply going to spontaneously combust at this point :/

this is a pic from a while ago, but I've always kinda wondered what it was. could you identify it? found in Kentucky, not sure how specific you need for location :)
This is a very pretty female imperial moth!! The males look similar just with a bit more brown on them
The caterpillars are also quite cute and can vary in colour according to which stage of growth they're in or which morph they are
'blah blah moths are boring cuz they're all brown blahblah blah'
'no they're not! some moths are ✨colourful✨'
Oh. Oh you sweet summer children. What of texture, what of shape, what of pattern, what of refined elegance what of the beauty of things that existed before the tiny speck of dirt in the fingernail of existence that we humans are... that carry on with the tasks of their kin while you sleep in a city built on hubris that will topple because of the thoughtless destruction of all that benefits us... what of that??
Merry Chrysalis!! (to those who celebrate)

Please someone send me an ask with a moth to id or smth i would love that
You know, an interesting tumblr transformation that's happened gradually, and which I've seen no one talk about: ask-culture has essentially dropped off to nothing.
By which I mean, asks used to be WAY more of the tumblr economy. They used to be more common to send, and receive, and see. They were integral to the collaborative, forum-like behavior of old tumblr communities, not even to speak on the HUGE number of ask-blogs that used to exist to only be interacted with in ask-form.
I'm not saying this in a vying-for-attention way but instead in an observational way: I used to get way way more asks in like 2015, even with a fraction of my follower count. I wonder if it's due to the homogenization of social media sites? There's a lot more of this divide between "content creator" and "consumer" instead of just a bunch of peer blogs who would talk to each other. "Asks" aren't really a thing on twitter, are they? And as I understand it, the closest thing to an "ask" on instagram or tiktok would be a creator screenshotting some comment and responding to it in a new reel or video or whatever those content mediums are. Are asks just too tumblr-specific? Is that aspect of the site culture dying out as more and more people converge to using all their social media sites in the same way?
