Happy Tender Tuesday! What are your OCs love languages and are they good at expressing them to their partners?
Thanks for Asking! This is quite a complicated question, now that I think about it.
Raelen & Vallerius: Raelen's love language is probably spending quality time with the ones she loves, especially if it includes either: talking about her favorite subjects, doing something she likes to do such as adventuring or researching old magic, or generally doing something special together, she particularly likes stargazing and little escapades around the cities they travel to. Her love interest and best friend, Vallerius' love language would probably be finding special gifts or new activities to do together, helping her see the world like she had always dreamed of. He wants to be a good friend and show her how special she is to him. (VIBE: Best Friends to Lovers or Idiots in Love)
Ellinor & Nethen: Ellinor's love language is probably respect, acceptance, and comfort, but for who she is, not for her status. She loves Nethen because he is one of the few people that couldn't care less about her title as the lost princess and yet deeply loved her for who she really is, finally treating her as an equal rather than someone above him. Nethen's love language would be to express his emotions deeply and in an unbridled fashion, and to say the things the other needs to hear, even if they are harsh truths, loving her with a burning passion - even when they were both enemies (which is a good chunk of the story and the source of their chemistry), he was still fascinated by her in a healthy way, as a worthy opponent and one of the few people he respected. He also likes sharing his knowledge and feeling the thrill of the chase when they are both playing their games against their common enemies - even if it started as a game against each other when they were on opposite sides. (VIBE: Enemies to Lovers or Battle Couple)
Darian & Tanwin: Darian and Tanwin are where things get complicated. As they spend much of the story not realizing that what they are feeling is because they're actually in love, most of these things come through when they are still "just friends". Darian's love language is being supportive and gentle, helping Tanwin deal with his problems - which, since Tanwin is very emotionally withdrawn, is more than necessary. Tanwin's love language is actions since he does not do emotions very well, and so, instead of expressing himself openly, every action he makes is a testament to his affection - even if he doesn't realize that sometimes. (VIBE: Starcrossed Lovers or Obliviously In Love)
Luciya & Cassander: Luciya's love language is using humor as a way to lift the mood. She is also incredibly nerdy when it comes to knowing new things and can be a hopeless romantic who just wants to go on picnics in the meadows or go to a starlit ball. Cassander's love language is subtle, like his own personality - being a rebel spy, and usually comes in the form of being able to read the other very well and notice her needs in order to make Luciya more comfortable/happy, as well as being very sophisticated in his date choices - which makes Luciya quite starstruck as, being of lowborn status, those things are rare and wondrous moments she gets to experience with the one she loves. Being equal nerds, they also like to spend hours talking over books, tomes, scrolls, and everything else. Luciya often surprises Cass. (VIBES: The Thief and The Spy In Love)
Nadinne & Morwan: The Lady and the Mercenary. Nadinne's love language is probably finding an "equal mind" and partaking in high-level gossip while going on lavish yet simple dates. Morwan, being the utter mercenary queen, likes to indulge Nadinne's dreams of freedom, and perhaps even teach her lady how to fight better - after Nadinne teaches her to dance - and take her to experience the fun of the more shady side of towns, such as tavern crawls. Nadinne is a lady but she also had pirate blood in her veins, so that makes her love Morwan all the more. (VIBE: Not So Forbidden Romance, The Lady and The Fighter)

"the gold plated masquerades from the glimmering city of Adrellios where mysteries and wonder walk hand in hand..."
The way this line made me swoon!!! That sounds incredible and attending a gold plated masquerade would definitely be the experience of a lifetime!
Also, I have to agree, steering clear of the Shroud sounds like a solid idea! 😅
Thank you so much for sharing! 💙
Hiii! Sorry for not answering earlier, today was a crazy day and only now was I really able to check my tumblr inbox.
The masqueraques are definitely swoon worthy! Extravagant marble and gold palaces, intricate chandeliers and decorations made of the rarest metals and precious stones, banquets that provide exquisite dishes of all tastes and colors, people in gowns made of the finest silk and linen all donning intricate and delicate masks. There are ways to indulge all manners of desires and pleasures a soul craves in the halls of the Golden City, if one if willing to pay the price of mystery and secrecy.
Also, the Shroud is definitly something go avoid. Mists and fogs of ancient bygone magic swirling through abandoned forests and forgotten places where deadly beasts lurk. Too bad my main characters will have to pass right through it to escape the villains (:
Thank you so much for making the Ask! I'm really excited to talk anout my book and would love to answer any questions you may want to make about it or its characters!
Happy tender Tuesday! Here's a difficult question for you: whose relationship do you think is the most hurtful to each other, by accident or on purpose?
Oooh, this is a complicated one! I don't think I have any character relationship that is intentionally/purposefully hurtful, as I am exhausted of the "toxic lovers trope", (Even though I have a pairing that is "enemies to lovers" - Ellinor and Nethen - their love never does get as tragic as this one ) lol, BUT... There's this one romance that is the most tragic before it eventually works out. It's the relationship between Tanwin (an elf warrior) and Darian (a rebel human).
I'd say it is """"hurtful""""" because :
the characters are unaware at first that the feelings they have for each other are romantic love and spend some time thinking they're just friends. One of them actively believes this because he knows he is in love but considers himself unlovable and broken (Tanwin), therefore thinking that the other would never love him and that saying his feelings out loud would ruin their friendship, while the other is completely oblivious (Darian)
they used to be childhood best friends, (they promised they'd always be together) but one of them was forcefully captured by a mad warlord, separating them for years. The other (Darian) spent years trying to find him (Tanwin), but when he actually does, Tanwin isn't the boy he used to know anymore. He was tortured, experimented on, and made into a warrior. Darian wants to help, but how can he help someone who he doesn't know? Someone whom the world turned dangerous? Nevertheless, Darian isn't about to give up. In truth, Darian also isn't the same boy he was all those years ago: he has grown, fought, joined a rebellion, journeyed the world... They're strangers when they meet again, even though they know who they were "supposed to be"
for a while, what hurts the most, is "the life that could have been", who they could have become - if the war hadn't come to them, and if Tanwin wasn't captured and they had got to be those naive lovesick teens again.
so, they spend a lot of time pining for each other, while Tanwin tries to heal himself and Darian is trying to help. eventually, they start to get to know each other - as in, get to know the new versions of each other that had changed - but it is a hard process until they finally do. Every time they think they "finally found each other" - in a metaphorical sense - things end up chaotic again.
In the end, though, things work out, even though it was a really slow burn until one of them actually confesses their love. It gets really sweet from then on. They help each other grow and heal and eventually get their happily ever after
A song that really fits would be: Left Behind by Reinaiery (though the song is about two girls - and my characters are two boys, the lyrics fit their story perfectly)
