It’s going to be okay, but it’s going to be different

Summary:Y/N just lost a very dear friend and doesn’t know how to go on with life, luckily her husband Shouta is there.

“I’m sorry, they didn’t make it.”

These were the words that destroyed you.

One of your dearest friends, gone.

Just gone.

It hurt you, destroyed you.

All you could do was lying there, in your and your husband’s bed, all day. You weren’t able to stand up, the moment the call you got would play again and again in your head.

“I’m sorry, they didn’t make it.”

That’s all you were able to think about for the last two weeks, well beides the haunting thoughts.

What if you called them before it happened?

What if you invited them over instead of going grocery shopping?

What if you were with them?

What if ———

“Y/N? Are you asleep?”

Your tired eyes look up.

And they met other tired eyes, though they were not tired because of nightmares like yours were.

All you could do was stare at your husband. Too drained to say something.

So you just lied back down.

Shouta knew what real loss means, so he understands what you’re going through. And so he understands what you need.

The mattress shifts as he climbs into bed and lies down next to you.

“You should eat something.”

He starts to rub your back, you love it when he does that, but right now you just feel nothing.

They also loved it when they got physical touch, like hugging, now you can’t hug them anymore, because now they’re———

“I got a call.”

You look at him.

“The date for the funeral…”

You look away again.

“Death is so weird, all their things still were at their house, as if they’re coming back..”

Your voice is quiet and shaky.

“I know baby, I know.”

Shouta gave you a quick kiss.

“Want a Bath?”

You shake your head.

“Y/N…”

You don’t answer.

You also don’t resist as he picks you up and walks with you to the bathroom.

He sets you in the bathtub and starts the water, it’s cold at first and then warm, like the blanket. Does death feel like that?

Your husband gives you a scalp massage while shampooing your hair. You let yourself glide further into the bathtub.

“Want to get out?”

You don’t answer, so he lets you stay inside for a bit more. After half an hour he gets you out and dries you off. He then gives you a fresh shirt, it still smells clean. You didn’t smell that for a long time.

Shouta gives you some pyjama pants and carries you to the couch. You need a room change. Even if it’s a small one.

“Movie?”

You shake your head again.

He sighs and sits down next to you. You lean into him and he kisses your shoulder.

“You want to go?”

You blink, when did he start talking?

“Hm?”

“To the funeral?”

You stay quiet.

Before you break out into tears, many tears. And sobs, and sniffs.

And Shouta just holds you while gently rocking your body.

That’s all he can do right now.

You didn’t cry for a very long time, thought there were no tears left. It seems like there were.

You cry into Shouta’s chest, his shirt will be all wet after but that’s okay. All he can do is rocking you and reassuring you the moment he notices that you’re struggling to calm down yourself.

“Shhh Baby, i know…it’s okay..”

You slowly start to calm down. Still having a shaky breath but that’s okay.

Shouta wipes your remaining tears away and gives you another kiss.

“H-how can I g-go on with l-life…”

“That’s the hard part about death Y/N, acceptance. It’s going to be okay, but it’s going to be different.”

And it just happened like that.

It took some time but it turned out okay.
