I Knew Rin Would Be The Mother For One Reason And One Reason Only: Most Anime Is Extremely Cliche That
I knew Rin would be the mother for one reason and one reason only: most anime is extremely cliche that way. The ‘Lone Wolf’ character type can only have so many relationships. He’s not ‘allowed’ to have a platonic relationship with women (and in Rin’s case, I use that word loosely). Doesn’t make me happy at all, of course.
I don't even think that it's due to being a lone wolf, it's also due to the fact that a lot of people are extremely uncomfortable with somebody ending up single. Like the idea of permanent singleness is just so wild to them that they can't even fathom it. It reminds me of how people talk about Joey from Friends: "it's so sad that he never wound up with anybody because out of everyone he was the bestest friend." Like what if he just wants to be cool Uncle Joey, y'all? What if he just wants to spend his life dating casually and eating pizza whenever he wants and traveling? What if that's his happy place?
Even in fandom, how many times have you read a fic where all the characters in it have been in a relationship of some kind? One of the reasons I just presumed that everybody was cool with SessRin was because every third Inukag fic would have SessRin in it. Society has an extremely difficult time keeping characters single or even just friends, because we prioritize having a romantic partner as the ultimate relationship.
I've noticed with the rise of LGBTQ acceptance (WHICH IS A GOOD THING), more and more I'm seeing people be like "okay, they're not actually friends, they're in love, friends don't act like that." Well, what if they do, Hannah? What if friendships can be just as wonderful, intimate, and important as a romantic partnership, Allie? What if it's just your friends that suck ass, Kate?
Basically the world hates single people or people who don't want to be in relationships, including all of the ace spectrum peeps.
The lone wolf is an extremely difficult trope to write well, for a variety of reasons, but adding our amatonormativitic hellscape along with it, like yeah, of course Sesshomaru can't have a relationship with anyone without it being romantic.

Being trapped in the rubble of Yashahime and seeing bad takes pop up like mushrooms after rain sure explains why I’ve got one foot out of the Inuyasha fandom.
Now that bethesda jokes is going around again can somebody revive that one something or other forum post where somebody found out the way they made vehicles move was just like putting a train on top of an invisible naked default sprite and having it run real fast
No context, just posting this high-quality low-effort meme made by my friend @mythicamagic
