In this AU, Iwa is the protector of the sacred forest that functions as an in-between, between life and death fjsjdj

The forest is home to the lake of immortality, many wander into the forest seeking it's healing and supernatural powers, however, it's Iwa's job to make that people do not abuse its power.

He acts as the judge of whether one was allowed into the lake, and those who forced their way were often dealt with by the creatures that aid Hajime's protection of the forest

Hajime can talk to animals as well as temporarily resurrect the dead with the help of the lake

Tooru is the prince and current heir to the throne of the kingdom not too far from the forest, he's also the general to the kingdom's army!! The thing is, on the day of Tooru's inauguration, Tooru's kingdom was raided by a much bigger and more powerful kingdom. A good half of the population was massacred by pre-planted explosives etc at the ceremony jdjsj

Tooru was forced to escape even though he wanted to stay. He personal group of guards were all killed and Tooru himself was left severely wounded jdjsjd. Tooru stumbles near the sacred forest, and since everyone knew not to mess around near there, the enemy gave up chase. That's where he meets iwa!! And iwa nurses him back to health and eventually helps him reclaim his kingdom and throne 🤡🤡

This is a continuation of the previous reply hhhhh, well then!! Iwa finds tooru really beat up with like wounds and everything pretty much on 60% of his body, iwa recognises the kingdom's crest and more importantly the crown that he had found near Tooru's body.

He brings him to the lake with the help of the woodland creatures and basically treats all those wounds the lake couldn't fully heal;; Hajime lives in the very elaborate structure weaved from the branches of the tallest of trees djskjs, there are bridges and everything to different little huts all which belong to iwa but for different things!! While it might seem like a lot of people live there, Hajime lived in the forest alone, his only company the woodland creatures

Tooru when he wakes up is so confused and low-key scared?? He knew he was in the forest from the very noticeable purple leafed trees, and he was just stunned he wasn't dead fjsjjs. 

Hajime comes and brings him some food and Tooru is just???? Who are you?? And iwa is just????? Eat ur damn food??? But they bicker a lot and don't get along at first because while Hajime saved him he didn't really believe Tooru was a good person considering their kingdom did some pretty bad things, they clear up all these misconceptions slowly but surely and get closer ahhhh djsjjs, 

Tooru realises how lonely it must have been for Hajime living in the forest alone and Hajime hasn't been this, happy??? Ever?? He really likes Tooru's company ahhhh

the idea is that when Tooru manages to reclaim his kingdom/throne, he asks Hajime to rule the kingdom with him fjkshdisjdi, and they have a happy ending ahhhhh, Tooru deploys his men to protect the forest so Hajime no longer has to bear that burden alone
