Happy Zutara Week 2022, everyone!!

Here's my drawing for Day 3: Hands.

I love how expressive hands can be and all that a well-drawn hand can add to an image, but they are not always easy to draw! Of course, for Zutara, it is always worth the effort, yeah? <3

Anyway, hope you all enjoy! :)

your hands weren’t meant to kill, they were meant to give life

I noticed this...

I won't lie. I was expecting a hand touch here, I was. Not her grabbing his wrist. The hand touch was so soft! They didn't want to use that?

Crushing!RO’s reactions when the MC instinctively takes their hand because they’re scared or wary of something. Thank you!

Blade: his heart would probably explode from how cute he found it but he’d try to stay calm and say something to the effect of keeping the MC safe so she’d be less scared

Trouble: Trouble is the type of person who doesn’t think much of friends touching him or touching friends, so he’d shoot the MC a cheeky look and be like, “you scared mate? Just stick close to me” :3

(I don’t know why but I often shake my head at Trouble and affectionately think fucking idiot)

Tallys: She’d squeeze the MC’s hand tightly and give them a comforting smile.

Shery: She’d try to be strong and give them a wavery smile but inside she’d be like oh wtf, they’re scared? doesn’t that mean I should be petrified?… I’m fucked… 

Riel: He’d raise his brow at the MC, like, “why are you touching me?” but then he’d get it and allow him to continue holding his hand, kind of embarrassed!

Chase: He’d put his arm around the MC comfortingly and say something like, “It’ll be fine” with a reassuring smile and a wink.

Red: He’d squeeze the MC’s hand and give them some words of encouragement to make them feel better.

Ayla: she’d snatch her hand away like she’d been burned, and then try to cover her embarrassment up by muttering something like, “…You’re fine. We’re fine. It’ll all be fine.”

Lavinet: she’d get nervous from holding the MC’s hand but cover it up with a show of bravado, like laughing carelessly to show everyone she’s not scared OR shy.

 look.  I don’t know what the animators were thinking during the steam grotto scenes

maybe they thought it would be less intimate having adora rest her hand on glimmer’s like that. maybe they thought it’d be more casual

but all it does is make me think of those pics of knights and ladies

the unrequited courtly love. the chivalry. The chaste and fleeting moments

like, ‘and I shall not hold you in chain nor trace but merely be a resting place’ all soft and, caring

maybe also because that casualness makes it all so intentional? Since Glimmer isn’t grabbing Adora’s hand, Adora’s the one who’s making the choice to keep it there, Adora’s the one choosing to keep that connection between them

she’s clearly not sure about the whole sitting in hot water to relax thing, but glimmer's there with her, and that helps her feel like this might be okay?

and the only thing glimmer does is this… small thing, where she just kinda, lets adora fingers tuck into hers.
