META  + diluc's relationship with traveler

diluc is fascinated by the traveler. he always wants to hear their stories from all their travels, and not just through teyvat, but from other worlds they've been to. he wants to know more about what's beyond his bubble.

he also has an extreme soft spot. not everyone can easily get on diluc's good side, nor can they be so easily trusted. diluc is wary, and has a hard time trusting others, but with the traveler, he trusted them almost immediately.

he holds a sort of gentleness towards them. his voice softens, he smiles a bit more, and he lets himself loosen up a bit. this is supported by the weinlesefest event, where he speaks with affection to the traveler, but with kaeya, his tone immediately sours.

however, despite his affection towards the traveler, there are subtle differences with how he treats aether vs lumine.

lumine is someone he considers a best friend. she's quirky, she's playful, and she reminds him of himself when he was younger. he's always willing to help her and he likes spending time with her.

with aether, though, his feelings become deeper. aether is literal sunshine. he radiates such warmth that diluc wants nothing more than to soak into it. he always hopes that aether will pass through mondstadt again and whisk diluc away on one of his many adventures.

diluc genuinely cares so deeply for the traveler. and that's what hurts the most, because he's well aware that one day, the traveler will move on from teyvat and take to the stars again.
