diluc was the familiar and guardian to the original pyro archon. he lived as a beautiful phoenix, a creature that had been captured before being discovered by the archon themselves, who set him free. the blazing bird owed his life to the archon, indebted to them, and offered to be their protector in thanks for granting him freedom.

thus began his centuries of guardianship, the phoenix at the archon's side at every turn. as the original archon performed their duties, the phoenix met the rest of the seven and became closely acquainted with them and their own familiars / companions.

when the archon perished for the first time, during the transition of their divine power, the phoenix became lost. grieving over the loss, the phoenix eventually turned to ash from the heartbreak.

decades later, the phoenix was reborn and the throne of pyro was taken by murata, the successor to his original master. the phoenix was reborn as a young man with light brown skin, blazing red hair and piercing crimson eyes — a very similar appearance his current reincarnation carries. however, with his first reincarnation came a difficult obstacle — memories.

the phoenix did not remember his previous life, at least not right away. so he wandered aimlessly until he came across murata, her soul deeply intertwined with his original master due to their bond. because of her connection to her predecessor, the phoenix recognized her and joined her side once more, his memories eventually returning to him.

and so, murata and her fellow archons then became aware of the phoenix's ability to die and be reborn, as true to his species.

over the years, the phoenix came and went in various forms and identities. each time, he started off lost, confused, and without any memories of his previous lives.

eventually, he was reborn as diluc ragnvindr. at this point, murata was becoming ready to retire herself from the life of an archon and she needed someone to take her place. due to his many years of protection and companionship, once he was of age, she granted him her gnosis.

diluc now is slowly regaining his memories from his previous lives as he becomes the new pyro archon. as a result, however, living a long life of rebirths, his memories tend to become muddled or blurred with previous reincarnations.

not many might know who the phoenix has become as he always had a different form each life, especially newer archons, but one thing is for sure: every reincarnation has bright red hair and deep red eyes.
