🌙 — did a 10 pull in my eu account since i don't really care what i get on that account, and heizou returned to me 🥺 i missed you, baby boy. now to rebuild you.

downside is that he's gonna be stuck in phase one for a while since inazuma is on lockdown (my main account i got him during his birthday so i was able to get his first ascension stuff), and i have his weapon at r2 on this account

he tries not to wince at the other's defeated tone, his own arms crossed. he knows he's asked a lot from his twin over the years, depended on him far more than he should have, but he doesn't know what else to do.

he reaches up to flick a red lock out of his eyes before finally returning his twin's gaze. "i hate to ask," he really does, "but do you think you can perhaps pose as me in the tavern tonight? i have... business to attend to, and the knights of favonius are too suspicious for my liking, if what the traveler says is anything to go by."

no one else in the world besides the traveler knows his identity, but vesper will always be a different case. even if the two stand at a considerable distance, diluc knows deep in his heart that he can trust him despite it all.

"I already know what you're going to ask, 'Luc..." There's a furrow of the brow as bitter words fall from his lips, rising emotion bubbling beneath the surface, an old anger that has never truly fizzled out. Vesper's arms fold across his chest as he turns away, already contemplating carrying the weight of a familiar coat that has never truly sat well upon his shoulders, only used when the need for a faux interpretation, a copy of the original, is necessary. "Just tell me where you need me to be."

There's a resignation to his tone then and he glances back across at his twin, but says nothing, instead letting his arm drop once more to brush imaginary lint from his waistcoat. It would seem he needs to pull on Kaeya for another favour, switching shifts at least so they can cover for the head of the family's escapades. Nevermind that the two of them live up to dear old father's dream better than Diluc himself.

diluc hates that even after all this time, he's still an open book to kaeya. no matter how hard he pushes him away, no matter how closed off and locked away he makes himself, kaeya still knows exactly how diluc feels.

he rolls his eyes, arms folding over his chest. he looks away, brows knitted together. he sighs softly, why...? why does kaeya care so much? why doesn't he hate him? why does he try? why does kaeya shoulder all of diluc's mistakes and actions?

"you aren't responsible for my burdens." he finally speaks, "and i'd rather you not care about me because of some imagined guilt. i don't need the pity."

he can't help it. he can't help but keep kaeya at a distance. he doesn't trust himself. he has changed from his little... adventure, but that doesn't mean he isn't still capable of possibly losing all sense and composure. he can't risk that.

when was diluc ever fine? that was the first thought that rushed through kaeya's head as he sat there in the winery. this was meant to be a brief visit, to drop off some items his estranged brother asked for, and get out of the way before the suppressed memories of his time here broke free and rushed into his head.

but that was not going to happen now as he found himself leaning forward in his seat and tilting his head, almost examining diluc as a long sigh left his lips and kaeya replied to that obvious lie.

"i'm not dumb, diluc. you haven't been fine for years, and whether you like it or not, i still care and worry about you. i'm responsible for some of those burdens you bare, so i will worry about you no matter what. so, talk to me, what's wrong."
