Help Khalid Sisters in Gaza not to be Homeless
Hello Dear,
We, (Najwa, Jana, Farah, and Maryam), are the sisters of Shaheed Khalid Saed Ash-Shawwah, who was martyred on 07/31/24 along with Al Jazeera correspondent Ismail Al-Ghoul and his colleague, photographer Rami Al-Rifi . Khalid was our older and only brother and he was a great support for us and others. As you may heard Khalid’s story in the news, he was bombed while he was riding his bicycle coming back from delivering food to our old and injured neighbors.
Before the IDF forces killed our brother Khalid, they forced us to evacuate our house and left everything behind. They then destroyed our house and our father’s restaurant. We had to move at least 10 times since every new area we seek refuge to gets bombed.
Currently, the 4 of us and our parents, are living devastating and sad life in a bombed room in Gaza. It is extremely difficult for us to get the basic needs of food, water, and shelter.
We sincerely hope you can empathize with our dire situation and consider supporting us. We are raising funds in order to be able to pay the rising cost of basic necessities in north Gaza. Our family is large and the cost of survival in north Gaza is astronomical. If you have anything you can spare, we implore you to support us. Can't believe I'm saying this but the weather is slowly changing in Gaza again and it rained quite heavily this week. Knowing this while literally 90% of Gaza's population has been displaced, many living in makeshift tents, is a terrifying thought. Since last week's rain, many people are left without a place to stay and their belongings destroyed by the rain.
The cost of tents is between $700 and $800 which is beyond practically everyone in Gaza right now. However, the Sameer Project are crowdfunding and providing these families with tents. You can help out by either donating and/or sharing their initiative with your friends and community members.

I am Hani, a 26-year-old young man from Gaza. I no longer have anything but words, written by a trembling hand ✍️. The war didn’t just destroy our lives; it took everything from us. Our home, the refuge that once sheltered us, is now a pile of rubble 🏚️. My car, my only source of livelihood, was destroyed in a sudden strike 🚗, and the work that once sustained us is now a distant memory 💼.
Today, I live in an unending nightmare. Under a sun that burns everything in its path 🌞🔥, my family and I sit in a worn-out tent, a tent that neither shields us from the summer heat nor the winter cold ❄️. Insects 🦟 invade the place, diseases consume our bodies 🩺, and my younger siblings cry from hunger and thirst 🍞💧. We have no clean water, nor a crumb of bread to ease our hunger. I used to live with my family in our small house. It wasn't fancy, but it was filled with love and warmth. We lived a simple life, but our happiness was more than enough. I loved waking up to the sounds of nature and knowing that water was always close by. Everything felt perfect… until the war came.

In an instant, my world shattered. I heard explosions that shook the ground beneath me. I looked around, and within seconds, our home was reduced to rubble. I couldn't even process what had happened. All my memories, all the moments we shared, scattered among the wreckage. We were left homeless, with nothing to return to. The only things we could carry with us were the memories we held in our hearts.
We fled to the nearest refugee camp. There was no other choice. The plastic tents we found shelter in couldn’t protect us from the scorching summer heat or the freezing cold of winter, but they became our new home. We used to live near water, where it was always easy to access, but now water has become a distant dream. I stand in long lines under the burning sun just to get a few liters. Sometimes, I walk kilometers through roads filled with debris, just to collect enough water for a few days.
With every step I take, I feel the weight of the suffering. But despite all of this, I refuse to give up. My name is Huda, and war will not break me. My home may have been destroyed, but my heart still beats with hope. I will keep going, and I will hold on to the belief that tomorrow might bring a new beginning for me and my family.

Almost two months ago, I made a post to share Mahmoud's fundraiser. Since then he only raised €500. Since then he also lost his uncle who was like a father to him.
He already lost so much, yet he is constantly posting on twitter to ask for help to evacuate Gaza, help his family and continue his studies. I cannot express how desastruous it feels to see his tweets gets thousands of views with no donations, imagine then how it must feel for him. Two weeks ago he was tweeting about how he finally got a €50 donation after days without anything. It has been months now that he express how he is losing hope and thinking of stopping, of not posting anymore because of the lack of help he receives. And since then nothing changed.
I am posting his campaign here in the hope that the tumblr community will be more receptive to his plight and not ignore him like so many are doing.
