SPOOKTOBER 2024 - OPEN ARMS

This year's theme is Epic the musical because I've been listening to it non stop and making animatics in my head and I need to draw them. Epic is a concept albumn created by Jorge Rivera-Herrans based on The Odyssey and the songs are freaking fantastic. So I'll be drawing scenes from my favourite songs from each saga that's been released so far.

And we're starting off with Open Arms from the Troy Saga, because Polites is one of my favourite characters and this song is the embodiment of my favourite relationship dynamic. And I love the way it haunts Odysseus for the rest of the musical.

After 170 hours and 2 different drawing tablets, its finally here: My Illustrated guide to the Odyssey!🌊

This is the single biggest proejct I've ever made, it almost took as long as both Trojan War pieces combined. Needless to say, it'll be a long time before I make another big project like this

I also want to give a huge thank you to @katerinaaqu who's been brilliant in giving me lengthy odyssey quotes translated from the original greek, and helping me brainstorm character designs. She's been incredible and this project wouldn't be as good as it is now without her

And then they get married. SORRY I took so long to complete this, school has been beating my ass these days real hard, but I LOVED this ask. Ody canonically gets love advice from his virgin godess mentor.

I think the person who had requested this probably has their own idea but if I had to say probably the scar is a remnant from a sabertooth tiger which Ody had defeated to assume his position as leader, but again I can't say for sure haha
