Ctimene - Tumblr Posts
now im crying thank you
During "Full Speed Ahead", Odysseus goes: "Ithaca is waiting. My Kingdoom is waiting. Penelope is waiting for me." Whilst the chorus goes: "Ithaca's waiting. The Kingdoom is waiting. ....waiting." Do you think that little space where they don't repeat Penelope's name, they're saying to themselves their own loved ones names. For example, Eurylochus would go: "Ithaca's waiting. The Kingdoom is waiting. Ctimene is waiting."
And then they never make it home.
HAHA

idk if ctimene is canon in epic but here's my interpretation of their reunion. um. sorry
ody: ohhh ummm I have bad news for you sis
ctimene (ody's sister and probably eurylochus's wife): what?
ody: everyone who has a husband step forward
ctimene: *steps*
ody: not so fast girl
LOOK AT THEM. SEE

Shoutout to Eurylochus and Ctimene for being the characters that won my heart without Ctimene even existing in the musical.
Also shoutout to Ody 'Matchmaker' of Ithaca for being the first person in history to ship Eurymene (shhh, it's canon in my heart).
Thank you for creating this beautiful hc. It fuels my soul
I love the various modern interpretations of greek myths, how we now with all our human psychological understandment can propose ideas (well, headcanons) about characters. I'm saying that just to say Odysseus would be PEAK older brother behaviour with poor Ctimene. He's the older brother who grimaced when he first held his younger sister, who'd cut the head of her dolls, who'd sing "CTIMENE AND EURYLOCHUS SITTING IN A TREE!". He hides under her bed waiting for her to come to sleep and then yell to scare the shit out of her. And for that, Ctimene is peak younger sister behaviour as well. When Odysseus got the scar from the boar, she must have been like "Am I the favourite now? ^^". She steals her brother's clothing and watches as helpless Odysseus tries to get someone to help him. She marries one of his BEST FRIENDS and will brag about it any time she can. All in all, I propose to y'all: Peak sibling behaviour from Odysseus & Ctimene. Thank you for your time.

It's ok Ody loves Ctimene a lot and he held her at least 30 more minutes after that.
And the idea came from posts from @that-greek-mythology-girl and @nikoisme, in love with their Ctimene hc's/art so credit to them 🥹
I've been having a Ctimene and Ody reunion cooking up for such a long time in my mind now but the question is if my hands will be able to translate it 🥹

Eurylochus and Ctimene bonding over cooking my beloved
How do you think ctimene reacted to meeting baby telemachus?
Ohh there are still multiple possibilities in my mind because as we don't know anything about Ctimenes character it is mostly just going with what feels right.
I like the thought that Ctimene absolutely adores Telemachus, but was not quite in the "aunt mode" yet when meeting him.
So Odysseus and Penelope introduce him to her, she looks at him and says things like "He is wrinkly like a raisin" followed by "and just as sweet" Which leaves Odysseus wondering if he should be offended or flattered multiple times.
And at first she's a little unsure with how to handle a baby, in the good moments she looks at her nephew, then to Eurylochus and says: "We need one of those."
Then in some other moments she does get anxious and think she'd rather not have an own child yet when Telemachus cries and cries seemingly without stopping, but after Odysseus has to leave and after spending time helping Penelope to raise him, she basically becomes an aunt raised to second-mom â„¢ status.

Eurymene doodles because life is stressful
i love your ctimene design so much, she's beautiful!! also your eurymene art is everything to me 🥺💖 they're SO cute

Thank you!!! Tbh her design (and basically every other design too) is still a lot of trial and error for me, especially when thinking about showing the changes in different stages of their life, but I'm so happy you like them ðŸ˜ðŸ«¶âœ¨
Also I am starting to fully embrace having become hyperfixated on Eurymene haha
Your design is peak 😔✋
And that's the beauty of fandoms, the random attachments
WHY CAN I BE NORMAL AND GET COMICALLY ATTACHED TO ODYSSEUS LIKE THE REST OF Y'ALL WHY'S IT GOTTA BE FUCKING PERIMEDES?

no but actually look at him he's my light he's my love he's my life-
Also she said I'll stay in your heart like his mom did in the underworld
Calypso really be hitting all his trigger words
"Oh Odysseus was triggered by Calypso saying Open Arms"
That's true, that's very true.....
But is no one going to talk about how her calling him "Ody" was likely just as bad? Eurylochus wasn't just Odysseus's friend and second in command, that was his brother. Not just in Odysseus calling him that, but in-law as well, he was married to Odysseus's sister, something that likely wouldn't have happened if Odysseus didn't have a lot of trust in him. "Ody" was likely a name only Eurylochus and possibly Ctimene called him.
"You can stop hiding now" She said. She stood by the window, hands folded, calm but not cheerful. Telemachus slipped around the corner. "Can you explain this to me?" He asked, noted angrily that his voice was shaking. His mother turned to him. She was pale, her lips pursed, but there were no traces of tears. She was far from distraught, and yet she was the one who had said all those terrible things.
"Idon't think I have to. you overheard everything" He didn't hear the accusation in her voice, but he knew it was there. "Compared to what you want to do, eavesdropping is no offense" He hissed through clenched teeth, and immediately realized that he had overdone it. "Excuse me, are you suddenly ready to sit on the throne?" Her voice was cold as ice. Telemachus felt tears gathering under his eyes. He didn't want to cry.
"I'm sorry" She regained her composure quickly, but she didn't soften. "These aren't easy decisions. But this land belongs to our family, and I won't let it slip away from my hands. I will do whatever is necessary" The boy wiped his face with his wrist. "Do you think my father would be willing to do something like that?" He asked and immediately realized that he had made a huge mistake because he knew the answer. Penelope sighed, sounding very tired. "Your father is a wise man." She replied. Her son nodded, looking at the ground "You are too. More and more often, however, I hope that I have not inherited this from both of you"
Then he left, his steps a little too loud to be natural. She looked after him, sad. He would have found out anyway, but because he overheard her conversation with Ctimene, it was very brutal. Ctimene didn't deserve something like that, no. She deserved her husband, a bit too stiff, but brave and always ready to help, loyal to a fault. Penelope thought more than once that Eurycholes as a human being was simply better than her own husband. She couldn't be surprised at her friend that even after fifteen years she didn't want another man, how could she? But she and Ctimene weren't in the same situation. If Penelope had married the suitor, Odysseus would have been lost, deprived of the right to his own throne. But Ctimene… The suitors had to be calmed down. The king's sister's hand and womb would be a perfect way for them to stop trying to gain power, at least for a while. And after the return of the rightful king, they will be banished and Ctimene will return to the one she loves.
Penelope could imagine what a great sacrifice she was asking her husband's sister to make. But things had to be done if their family wanted to keep this kingdom, and if anyone had to make the difficult decisions, well. Better Penelope than Telemachus.
