Story Summary: Many centuries ago, a brilliant Sandwing animus created The Book of Forbidden Spells to control the world of animus magic. Not only that, but he created a continent-wide government system. This included a mandatory boarding school that animus students attend from ages 10-21. The story starts with four animus students, all born in the same year. They’re on their last year of school. Their differing views and opinions on magic + the government shine when they uncover a prophecy hidden right under their nose - and it’s about them.

this is going to be so unintelligible but i think the reason why i love wade so much is because he's so hard to wrap my mind around. even in just the movies there's this slight disconnect (?) in my mind between wade outside the suit, especially pre-mutation, and wade in the suit. i think it's a concept i tried exploring in my one fic where his suit seems like a caricature almost, but i think it's also just so unfathomable to reconcile how wade still is now, with everything he's been through and been able to bounce back from ("the one thing that never survives this place is a sense of humour").

but even just as a character he is insanely complex but also not?? he's so drawn to violence and takes lives so easily but saves them just as easily. he has dubious morals but sometimes just does things that are so GOOD. he's lethal but loves so fiercely, he's selfish but self-sacrificial. he's skilled and incredibly intelligent but also a klutz. he's cocky and unbearable but he knows it and hates himself. he is a walking contradiction and yet you can see exactly how he came to be this way. he's so unpredictable and yet you can trace the path that led him to where he is now, and you can trace the path ahead through the consequences of his actions.

and not to bring this up for the upteenth time but this is why i love gerry duggan's run so much, because he explores all these aspects of wade so masterfully (and also comics as a medium can sometimes be way better in exploring inner thoughts than movies). point is i love wade ok bye
