I like the design of @battyccino 's Master Kohga, so I drew him! And I also had some ideas for his face. Hmm…

i think i've said plenty on the topic of ganondorf's morality/redemption potential in other posts (both my own and tags in reblogged) but i have this to share that i think it's important:
you're never going to get a good ganondorf if your standard of goodness is hyrule.
ganondorf's existence, both as person and... heir of demise's role in the narrative as disruptor of order, if you will, is the antithesis of hyrule's system. regardless of what your opinion of him and the validity of his actions in his various incarnations across the series, there is one thing that should be obvious: ganondorf cannot peacefully coexist with a hyrule that doesn't involve him ruling it, either because of desire for conquest or because of the marginalization of his people or both.
writing a ganondorf that is in any way, shape or form agreeable or even compliant to the way hyrule treats the gerudo is not true to his character. it's not that a morally good and morally right (and there are moments when he is in the right in wanting to change things, even if his policy of "the end justifies the brutal means with which it's achieved" often makes the problem worse) ganondorf is impossible, or doesn't exist, or can't be done without doing justice to his character - it's that as long as you hold hyrule or the goddesses as ultimately good, as your height of morality, it's impossible to reconcile it with ganondorf as we know him.
so long as hyrule is the one telling the story, he will always be the villain. no matter how right and how good he might be.

Kohga flings off his mask, basking in the warmth of the flames of a dying empire upon his soot-stained face. It feels so goddamn bloody good. The fight’s over. It’s done. And they’re alive, the both of them, goddamn fucking alive and it’s the sweetest sensation in the world to know they’ve all made it through this.
Kohga turns to face his lord, lover, and partner, the smile that greets the King as blinding as the fires that blaze around them. It’s as radiant and brilliant as ever it is, even through all the wariness and exhaustion that’s worked its way into every fibre of his being—it’s still a symbol of hope to the Yiga, and more recently, the Gerudo. And what a wonder hope can be to hearts that have lost everything.

Covered head to toe in blood and grime and Din knows what else, Ganondorf still has the gall to call him beautiful. It makes Kohga’s heart skip a beat, then flutter like a trapped butterfly, especially for what he’s about to do next…
Kohga steps forward and takes Ganondorf’s hands into his own, gently coaxing the both of them to the ground. Kohga doesn’t mind the rubble and rock that digs into his knees, it’s a comfort when he’s been on his feet all day, fighting tooth and sickle for everything he and his people have strived for for centuries, just to see it all burned to the ground—
And it’s all gone. A symbol of Hyrule’s unending rule toppled down in one fell swoop, and he’s not sure he’s ever going to feel this elated again. Which is fine with him, because he’s waited lifetimes upon lifetimes for this very moment, biding those long years for a chance just like this.
He couldn’t have done it alone.
" Been waiting all day for this. At long last. The final act to put a good show to its long awaited end… "
Kohga pulls out the bundle he’s had hidden away before they marched here, and even through all the ensuing scuffle, it’s remained untouched and pristine. His smile widens, hands trembling with both exhaustion and sheer jitters.
He slips the hair pin into Ganondorf’s hand, the metalwork an intricate detailing of Gerudo and Yiga designs combined into something cohesive and beautiful. He rather thinks it’s an apt metaphor for the world they’re about to create. Together. From the ashes they both kneel in where a new dawn will rise. And Kohga can’t think of anything better than doing that, hand clasped in hand, with the man he loves.
" This is something we Yiga gift to those we wish to share our lives with. In ancient times, we gave it to another to show them how much we want to protect them. It’s embedded with magic properties too, wards… all that good stuff, " ugh. He’s rambling. Get on with it, Kohga.
" So… call this whatever you want. What I’m asking here is… Marry me, Lord Ganon. I want to see whatever world we’re about to walk into by your side for as long as I can. Marry me, you perfect bastard."
He doesn’t even give the other a chance to respond before quickly adding, ears and cheeks burning scarlet,
