Ghosts In My Rewrite Are Essentially Just Canon But Fleshed Out And Also Connected To Relics

Ghosts in my rewrite are essentially just canon but fleshed out and also connected to relics

Everything either has a soul of its own, or a soul from a person passed. When something dies its soul will usually seep into the ground or the water or the air, filling the world with whatever magical essence they had and fueling the cycle of life. Sometimes, however, souls can be forced to take physical form, by only by extremely strong magicks, like that of the divine (hence the Shadow Knights). A soul can be separated from the body, however

When a soul is forced out of their body, they form either a relic or a ghost. Relics can be full or partial. Full relics can be reversed and are made with the Celestial Canon as fully turning someone into a relic takes a very large amount of magick that exceeds even the divine. Partial relics use only a part of a person's soul and are permanent. They are weaker and can be achieved with weaker magick than full relics. Once the person dies the rest of their souls enters the relic and turns it into a full relic. The Divine Relics are partial relics made of the Divine Warriors, that claims a part of the Divine's soul so that it can grow in strength with every Divine that it gives power to

Ghosts are souls that leave someone's body but isn't used in a relic. These ghosts can inhabit a body, but cannot re-enter their own. The body they choose to inhabit is known as their host body, and typically host bodies are dead so they don't have another soul inhibiting them. Sometimes, however, a ghost can take a living host. Usually this causes more problems than solutions as the two souls would fight over control and if the ghost is overpowered too much it can be forced out of the host, and if the ghost overpowers the original soul it can kill the host. Full possession is often very exhausting for the host body and usually leads to the body passing out or weakening. The stronger the ghost the longer it can possess the body without passing out, but the more weak the body will become

Emmalyn and Michael are both ghosts, but Emmalyn is significantly weaker and thus is only able to fully possess Kim for a few minutes, unlike Michael who is able to possess a body for days, although the body typically dies if he possesses it for that long.

While souls can fight over control, it is possible to reach an equilibrium where both souls have equal power over the body. This can only be achieved through the souls coming to an equal agreement to give up power to the other. The only known instance of this happening is Kim and Emmalyn (although this has happened before them)

With equal control It's usually the host body who controls their movements, although they can give up control to the ghost and the ghost can attempt to control the movements at the same time, which causes the body to freeze up and not move. The only part of the body they have full control of independent of the other is the eyes. The host controls one eye and only fully processes what they see through their eye, although they can see the ghost's half (it's too blurry to make out anything though), and vice versa. They're also able to communicate through their mind with each other being able to hear the other's thoughts. They also cannot talk at the same time, and attempting to do so leads them to stuttering out an unintelligible combination of the words they're trying to say, unless they're both trying to say the exact same thing. They also sound like the host as its the host's vocal cords, but the ghost might change its voice to be slightly higher or deeper to differentiate them

This does mean they can do shit like this

Which looks really goofy

WOULD MCD CHARACTERS PEEL AN ORANGE FOR YOU????

Aphmau: Yes but she’d peel it messily

Laurence: Yes but he will tease you for asking for help with such an easy task

Garroth: He probably would and he’d offer to cut it into slices too

Zane: No and despite knowing you’re just asking to test something she will mock you for being so codependent you can’t even peel an orange on your own

Vylad: No but he will tell you how to peel an orange

Gene: No and will crush the orange so you can’t ask someone else

Dante: Yes, no questions asked he just likes helping

Zoey: Doesn’t know how to peel an orange, does know how to magic away the peel though

Katelyn: No but she’ll get someone else to help you

Nicole: Yes but will expect you to help her with something in return

Aaron: Knows you know how to peel an orange, will peel it anyways

Kiki: Yes but only so she can take the peel and feed it to her animals

KC: Yes and will offer to bake the orange into a sweet treat for you

I think Garroth's trauma and struggles are so overlooked in canon honestly-

->He almost died being turned into a werewolf

->He was forced to almost kill multiple people. Including his own brother.

->While under the forever potions control he basically is like a weapon/robot.

->After his brother finally gets him out of the forever potion. His own mother is used against him to get him under the control of the potion again.

->He was forced to almost kill another one of his friends.

->He was experimented on as a kid. AND the guy who let him be expiremented on (his own father) is someone that has been considerably close to Garroth. With Garroth being the 'golden child'.

->Golden child syndrome

->He doesn't want to inheret the company at all but basically gets no choice in that. Living your life knowing inevetably you be forced into doing something you just don't want to.

He also seems unlikely to actually communicate about his struggles.

No you are so right, he has been through like everything. I feel like though he *might* talk to Zane about their childhoods once they start working out their issues with each other, but yeah besides that I doubt he'd really talk about his emotions

(I also headcanon him with a "healthy" dose of older sibling syndrome where he felt like he had to fill in for his dad's neglect towards Zane and Vylad so that coupled with needing to always be the golden child means he never learned how to express or handle his emotions beyond bottling it up. Unfortunately it didn't really matter how much Garroth did because Zane resented him no matter what)

Decisions, decisions. How many mystreet characters should I give PTSD to? Obviously Aaron and Zane because they're canonically traumatized. Aph also gets it because she was forced to nearly kill Aaron. By that logic, Garroth and Katelyn also get PTSD although I'm not sure if I want them to have it because I feel like Katelyn is able to talk about her emotions enough that while she does have trauma, it doesn't get to the point of PTSD. Garroth will probably get it though. Daniel and Dottie should definitely get it since they watched both Aph's presumed death and Blaze's death. If Lilith will be added to my rewrite then she 100% has PTSD. Melissa probably has PTSD from nearly dying next to her mother, who actually died. Idk if Lucinda gets it, but she definitely has mass amounts of guilt because she thinks she could've helped more even though them surviving was literally thanks to her. I don't think Hanami (my name for KC) has PTSD. The only really traumatic thing she went through was When Angels Fall and she had accepted her death happily. Like girlie was fully ready to die for Zane, so when she ended up surviving she was just happy that Zane was okay (Zane is severely traumatized)
