For all of the northerners that stood up for Texas during our freeze and said, "Don't make fun of them, they've never dealt with this before. Their infrastructure isn't made for snow and freezing."

This one is for you.

Where I live 108°F with 80% humidity with no wind is normal.

Pacific North West is dealing historic best waves 35-40°C or 95-105°F.

First of all. Don't make fun of them for bitching about the heat. Just like Texas isn't built for a freeze and our pipes burst, Pacific North West isn't built for heat and a lot of their homes don't have AC.

If you live somewhere with a high humidity like 80+ HUMIDITY IS NOT YOUR FRIEND. The "humidity makes it feel cooler" is a lie once it gets beyond a point.

If you live somewhere with a lower humidity, misters are nice to cool off outside.

Once you get over 90°F (32°C) a fan will not help you. It's just pushing around hot air. (I mean if you can't afford a small AC unit because they're expensive as hell, by all means a fan is better than nothing).

If you have pets, those portable AC units aren't safe. If your pets destroy the outtake thing, it'll leak CO2. Window units are safer.

Window AC units will let mosquitoes or other small bugs in. Sucks, but that's life.

Now is not the time to me modest. If you have to cover for religious reasons, by all means. If you don't, I've seen people wear short shorts and a swim top. It's not trashy if it keeps you from getting heat stroke.

If you do have to cover up for religious reasons, look for elephant pants or something similar. They're made with a breathable material.

Shade is better than no shade, but that shit it just diet sun after some point. Don't think shade will save you from heat stroke.

I know the "drink your water" is a fun meme now, but if you're sweating excessively you need electrolytes. Drink Gatorade, Powerade, or Pedialite PLEASE. I don't care if you're fucking sitting in one spot all day. That shit WILL save you from heat stroke.

Most importantly. RESEARCH THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HEAT STROKE AND HEAT EXHAUSTION PLEASE!

If you're diabetic and can't drink Gatorade, mix water, fruit juice, and either lite salt or pink salt

If you can afford it, cover windows with thick curtains to insulate the house

If you have tile floors, lay on them with skin to tile contact. If you don't, laying your head on cool counters works too.

If the temperature where you're at is hotter than your body temperature, don't wear heat wicking clothing. Moisture wicking is safe though.

Check your medication labels. Many make you more susceptible to sun and heat

-Room temperature water will get into your body faster. This is something I learned doing marching band in high summer in Georgia, and it saved all of our asses. Sip it, don't gulp it, especially if you're getting into the red; same goes for whatever fluid you're drinking. And just in general drink during the day.

-If you are moving from an air conditioned space to an un-air conditioned space, if at all possible try to make the shift gradual. When my dad and I were working outside and in un-ac houses a few years ago, he'd turn the air down to low in the truck about ten-fifteen minutes before we got where we were going. This way your body doesn't go from low low temps to high temps. S'bad for you.

-If you can, keep your lights off during the day. Light bulbs may not generate a lot of heat, but the difference is noticeable when it gets hot enough. I literally only turn my bedroom light on in the evening when it gets too dark.

Don't be afraid to just like... pour water on yourself if you need to. The evaporation will cool you off.

Put your hand to the cement for 15 seconds. If you can't handle the heat, it'll burn your dog's paws. Don't let them walk on it.

Dogs with flat faces are more prone to heat stroke. Don't leave them out unsupervised.

Frozen fruit is delicious in water.

Wet/Cold hat/handkerchief on your head/neck will help you stay cool.

Pickle juice is great for electrolytes! You can even make pickle juice Popsicles!

Heat exhaustion is more, "drink water and get you cooled off." Heat stroke is more "Oh my god call 911."

I remember making a post about how anger in recovery is normal (especially after abuse), but I think the reason so many people are afraid of their anger is because of the way anger has been weaponized.

I used to feel almost... proud that I "never got angry" and I thought that made me a more empathetic, understanding, and well-rounded person. What I didn't want to accept was that I did feel anger, but it was wrapped in so many layers of fear, shame, and anxiety that I couldn't properly feel it. I was afraid of anger because it was weaponized against me for years and years - I blamed my mistreatment on the emotions I assumed my abusers felt, rather than blaming their actions and the way they felt it was their right to treat me like that.

I think that's a really common thought process for victims/survivors. I think so many of us are blinded, understandably, by the fear of anger that we prevent ourselves from even considering that we deserve to express ourselves if we are angry. Obviously, this is a generalization, but it's a trend I have noticed within myself and some others and it's important to address it because: you shouldn't be proud of being unable to register or emote how you are doing. Anger is neutral, and it is not inherently harmful. I know we've been hurt, but that doesn't mean we deserve aspects of our humanity to be stolen away. You deserve to feel anger because you are a person, because it is a natural, neutral emotion that we all have. I hope you are able to feel the full breadth of your emotions with no shame or guilt - you deserve love.

For some reason I always had the headcannon that Aphmau is infertile in Mystreet. I don't even know where it came from, but it is interesting.

She wants kids, she loves kids, she's always had this grand dream of a huge family. But she can't have it. Ever, no matter who she chose as a partner(s).

She finds out right out of college during a routine check-up, what causes that is up to interpretation, because it doesn't matter.

She's devastated, she's crying herself to sleep every night for several months, she wasn't planning for a family anytime soon, but fuck, it stings, and it feels like acid every time she visits family and there's dozens of kids around, kids she can never have herself.

It's why she acts so motherly to all her freinds, cooking for them, comforting them, being a constant shoulder to cry on to those that need her, a selfish reason to be that way. But no one would ever know that.

Add Aaron to that, he wants the same thing but can't have it. Any kid he had will pass on a curse that could lead to all of them being hunted, it's better if he doesn't.

Then you have a couple that desperately wants kids of their own and can never have it. Unless they adopt (which they do, eventually, but even that weighs on them.) And they become the group parents, taking care of everyone both because they care, and it scratches that part of their desires they feel they can't ever have.

Even if she chooses Garroth or Laurance, she still wouldn't have that. It literally wouldn't matter, she'd still be longing.

i think that killing a dragon should have catastrophic nuclear-fallout level environmental consequences tbh. their blood should scorch and wither the earth with fire and poison, the toxic fumes released as they decay should choke the land and all nearby living creatures, and the entire landscape where they fell should be transformed into a blighted wasteland where bleached leviathan bones loom upwards out of the ground as a warning that can be seen from miles away, the boundary markers of an exclusion zone.

Did she plan for there to be more Minecraft Diaries? Like she had the little prequel series and in the very first episode she closed the diary that she wrote the prequel in and started a new one for the MCD we know. Being a trans guy is so interesting. Because like, I want to be feminine and I want to be perceived as a feminine man, but also I don't want to medically transition. I do get dysphoria but only when it comes to other’s perception of me. Like I can look at my chest and be like "damn, I look great today" but when I remember other people will see me and think I'm a girl I'm like "damn I do not look good today at all, actually I want to curl up die"

This also comes with questioning if I'm actually trans, because how can I be a guy if I like to look feminine and I don't kind having tits? And it's weird because I know guys can be feminine and that doesn't make them any less of men, but all of a suddenly, because I'm not biologically a man being feminine *does* make me less of a man. Idk it could be a commentary on how people view trans men and how they perceive them as only being valid when they pass even though they preach that a fem man isnt any less of a man, but I'm too tired for that

Idk I do kinda feel less than sometimes when I think about how I don't want to medically transition. It's not that I'm scared of the procedures or anything, but I'm fine in my own body. All of my friends right now know I prefer he/him and they all see me as a man so right now I'm not that dysphoric at all and if I do stick with this then I don't think I'll ever need to fully transition. Socially transitioning is really all I need and I love being socially a man. But what if it's not enough? What if I'm not actually trans and I just like the aesthetic of it? I'm happy, but what if my happiness is bringing down the community?

Honestly I think of it as a symbol of the Ro'meave family, O'khasis, or the O'khasis monarchy rather than a specific religious symbol. It is basically a simplified version of Irene's sigil, likely adopted during the dark ages as a way to brand themselves as essentially the "light at the end of the tunnel." It's how they got to be the powerhouse they were. Until everything in diaries and the monarchy crumbled. Now the cross is mostly worn by the eldest Ro'Meave men as a sign of their family heritage and history buffs who are a little *too* into ancient O'khasis
