It’s been almost two years since my father walked out. No explanation other than “I don’t want to be married to you (my mom), I don’t want to be married to anyone else.” Two years since he threw me out of the house, 6 weeks after major abdominal surgery, at 10pm with no car, no where to go. Two painful years. But guess what? Does it still hurt? Yea. Am I sad? Sometimes. Was any of it my fault? Absolutely not. Have I forgiven him? Let’s just say I’ve reached the point of indifference. That took a lot of strength. I know he’ll never apologize; he’s not sorry and that’s ok. He will have to live with the consequences and that’s ok too.
