So, I Come From A Culture Where Marriage Is Negotiated Between Families And A Village Leader. Usually
So, i come from a culture where marriage is negotiated between families and a village leader. Usually only heterosexual marriages are approved (you can still get married but you’ll be shunned and most consider that worse than death) but im gay and im in love with This boy. I have no family, so I just argue and argue with the family and leader. Who I really needed to impress was the matriarch, so I started talking with her.
I told her I loved her grandson and he told her he loved me, but of course she didn’t really believe us. I wasn’t allowed to talk to him so I would just sling notes through his window along with gifts.
When she found out about this, she was moved because her husband used to do this and she told me so when we talked. I asked her if i could marry the boy then and she told me, “I will think about it.”
She thought about it for about three months, which I continued throwing my lover gifts through his window. In those months, she convinced the family that I did love him at least enough to marry him. When I was finally allowed a visit to him, I will admit I cried and hugged him. I think that really convinced them.
We’re not the first homosexuals to get married in our country, or even in just this region, but it is the first in our village. I love him so much, I thank the gods everyday that I was born into a time where I am not prosecuted for loving him so openly.
Sorry if this is incoherent, I used google translate for much of it since English is not a language I am talented in.
anon, this is such a sweet story and i’m so glad you’re able to get married!!! you sound like you really love him, so much that you changed this woman’s mind… it’s a beautiful story. thank you for sharing!

Just noticed that behind the words in Bruno is Orange are what sounds like ‘dum da da dum, dum da da dum’ repeated over and over but as the song builds to its peak you can hear that what’s actually being said is the word ‘don’t, don’t, don’t, don’t’ until it reaches its height and breaks out into what sounds like ‘don’t tattle, don’t tattle, dumb child, dumb child’ over and over again. This song has me in a CHOKEHOLD i swear to god

Anyone who reblogs this post will have their user written on a poster saying "We Stand With Palestine" that I hope to put up somewhere in the village I live in, or the town that the village is next to.
