Okay, Alicent Hightower Is Not A Self-insert. Self-inserts Had Much More Agency Than Her.

Okay, Alicent Hightower is not a self-insert. Self-inserts had much more agency than her.

She is a walking aesthetic, the one of the victim, the suffering woman who never complains, the one that is pretty when she cries, the Madonna in the Madonna-Whore Complex, despite being a terrible fucking mother. She is played by a conventionally attractive actress, she is suffering all the time but never does anything against those who abuse her, she lashes out against the other females (Rhaenyra) that she percieves as undeserving of what they have, or to her young children, but that doesn't matter because abusive women aren't even registered by the fandom.

So, not a self-insert, I honestly prefer the self-inserts.

In your opinion, why rhaenyra said that jace and baela' sons will inherit the Iron Throne? I know she didn't said it in a malicious way but I still don't understand why she underline "son" instead of "children" like viserys did in the conversation with Corlys

I don't think it's that deep. I think Rhaenyra chose to be more careful and conservative with her wording. For some reason, Rhaenys wasn't written to be supportive of Rhaenyra when she was named heir, so, how could she be sure she'd be supportive of Jace and Baela's future daughter.

As for Jace, he is being raised to support his mother and respect the women around him, so he wouldn't care about the gender of his heir. Neither would Baela, after all, she's a woman who was raised by Rhaenys and Rhaenyra.

At the end of the day, I believe that Rhaenyra doesn't actually care about whether Jace's heir is a daughter or a son and neither would Jace.

I am all for targaryen restoration to be honest. let my girl Dany have some kids that she so righteously wants.

Dany deserves the world, honestly. Being able to have a family and live in peace is the bare minimum owed to her.

Robert Baratheon and Aerys himself destroyed her family before she was born. She was happy in Braavos, but was forced to flee after Ser Willem Darry's death. Viserys was cruel and abusive while they lived in poverty. She found a bit of happiness (fucked up as it is) as Drogo's Khaleesi (aka bridal slave), but that was torn from her along with her poor Rhaego. After she leaves the Dothraki Sea, she knows no peace and is surrounded by the untrustworthy.

Despite all she's been through, Dany is kind, patient, merciful, and cares for others. She's a good queen despite her age and the false peace in Meereen, willing to sacrifice so much for the good of her people. She longs for children but she uses this longing to fuel her love for her people instead of letting it overwhelm her.

Dany deserves to live a long and happy life with children and peace. If that comes with the IT, she will be the greatest queen Westeros ever had, and if something else happens to with the throne, well, she'll still be happy with the simple life she always longed for.

Kinda ironic Rhaenyra gets dubbed "Maegor the Cruel with Tits", when one of his most abominable deeds was supposed to be killing his nephew- Aegon the Uncrowned- on a much smaller dragon, which is exactly what Aemond did to Nyra's child.

Meanwhile Aemond gets a nickname and a statue out of it.

"It's all about who's your favorite war criminal"

Sure, but yknow what? Rhaenyra didn't want to be a war criminal. She was forced into a war she wanted no part in by the stupidity and spitefulness of her half-brother. She wasn't even the one who wanted BnC to happen; Daemon was the one who organized that. She was ready to give up and end the war after her sons death, as any grieving mother would.

Then, they killed her aunt. Rhaenys was trapped and murdered unfairly in a fight. If it had been one versus one, she would've won. It is only because of Aemond and Vhagar that the war even HAPPENED, and only because of them the war continued. TG says she was cruel for not accepting the halfway ruling Alicent offered, but by then, her sons had taken almost everything from Rhaenyra. Lucerys, Jacaerys, Rhaenys, and she didn't even get to live to see Viserys come back alive.

Then she lived through the death of her other son, and Daemon. All she had left was Aegon III. Baela? Captured. Rhaena? Safe, in the Vale. Everyone else she loved was dead by that point; and then she was betrayed, and eventually murdered by her usurper of a half brother.

Rhaenyra is a victim and winner of the war, a tragedy and a victory. Not an "usurper" or "whore". She is the Black Queen.

"It's All About Who's Your Favorite War Criminal"

I agree with your latest rant, and would also like to add that I absolutely do not understand this heavy urge to present a full blown rapist (Aegon II) as a poor suffering creature. In fact, I remember someone, perhaps one of the writers, openly describing Aegon as a "tortured/tormented soul" in an interview (the reasoning/excuse here being something along the lines of "we wanted to flesh him out more").

You want greyness? You want to play with the audience and it's perspective? Be my guest. But why exactly do this by making (trying to make) the audience pity a raging fucking rapist? In a show where the ugliness of misogyny is the main theme?? Really now???

Condal's obsession with making TG more sympathetic is probably one of the biggest red flags from a showrunner I've seen since D&D. He sacrifices aspects of TB in the name of making them look better. Whether it's giving Jace's interests (swordplay, history, the fucking Valyrian language) to Aemond or swapping Alicent and Rhaenyra's ages upon marriage (Alicent was 18-19 in the book and Rhaenyra was 16).

Condal even made Rhaenys into Rhaenyra's political opponent, when in the book she supported her and even claimed the Velaryon boys inherited her Baratheon hair (her hair was also black in the book not Valyrian silver). He did this in order to make the Blacks look worse.

With Laena, Condal removed pretty much all plot relevance she had other than being Daemon's wife and Baela and Rhaena's mother. In the book, she and Rhaenyra were such close friends (maybe even closer than friends btw) that they betrothed their children (no, the betrothal wasn't a last ditch effort to win over Rhaenys) when they were infants/toddlers. Yet in the show, Condal sacrificed Rhaenyra and Laena's relationship to make room for Alicent.

His choice to make Aegon a "poor baby with daddy/mommy issues" is completely disturbing though. It's one thing to try to give Aemond and Alicent tragic backstories, but trying to make a rapist into a sympathetic character is outright disgusting. Even when we come face to face with one of his victims right after the act, Condal expects us to give a shit about that monster? Well it worked for a part of the fandom apparently, and isn't that just disturbing.
