In the first movie Robotnik licks Sonic's quill and gets shocked. He offers it to Stone afterwards, showing he liked it. Fun little gag, right?

But then in Sonic 2 he...keeps doing it? And it's never explained why, the film just implies Robotnik's been regularly hitting the quill during his time in the Mushroom Planet. It might explain his more erratic behavior in the sequel.

Plus, look at way Robotnik acts after absorbing the Master Emerald's power. Doesn't it seem a little off to you?

Watch this and tell me this man isn't baked out of his mind. After losing he seemingly goes into a depressive state. And in the new trailer what does Robotnik do to get pumped up?

TLDR: ROBOTNIK HAS CANONICALLY BEEN GETTING HIGH OFF CHAOS ENERGY EVER SINCE THE FIRST MOVIE. YOU CANNOT CONVINCE ME OTHERWISE.
