I got back into making art / digital collages in GIMP a few weeks ago, after years of not touching the program and wanted to make a place to post my creations.

"Out Of Place"
Two digital collages made in GIMP with screenshots from "The Oldest View" by Kane Pixels on Youtube, which includes use of the Julien Reverchon Giant made by Kevin Obregon.
Additional thoughts below the cut:
These are the variations of the movie poster practice pics I posted earlier. This style takes a bit of inspiration from surrealist artist René Magritte actually, what with taking a human(oid) silhouette and replacing the inside of it. These also serve as mirror images to each other with how I replaced Wyatt and the Giant, in a way showing how they are both 'out of place' in different points in the story.
These were really the 'prototypes' for the movie poster(s) I then did. It was a nice challenge to try and find pictures that would not just be great mirrors for each other, but also had distinct silhouettes *and* fit into each other.

"Frutiger Aero Inspired" (Aesthetic/Moodboard)
[sources: x / x / x / x / x ]
Aesthetic/moodboard made in GIMP with free stock images from unsplash. I tried to capture the general aesthetic of 'Frutiger Aero'.
Further thoughts below the cut:
I am pretty sure I didn't manage to be 100% accurate to the Frutiger Aero aesthetic, but I think its passable for a first attempt. I just tried to capture the 'vibe', the general imagery and colors associated with it.
(Sidenote: pexels.com makes it a lot easier to find photos again, whereas with unsplash, it took more effort. I recommend getting an account and making picture collections to easily find the photos again.)
I wanna do digital art I wanna do pixelart I wanna do glitchart I wanna do ditherpunk I wanna do abstract and surrealist art I wanna make patterns I wanna make textures I wanna do photography I wanna pick up drawing again I wanna do more digital collages I wanna make more aesthetics/moodboards I wanna do digital stamps for neocities I wanna do vaporwave art I wanna do album covers I wanna do movie poster mockups I wanna do fanart I wanna do original art I wanna do art in GIMP I wanna use Aseprite I wanna learn Blender I AAAAAHHHHH-

"Incomplete Memories"
A digital collage made in GIMP with a stock image from Pexels.com and a picture of George Brehm's "Woman's Home Companion- September 1916" illustration (public domain in the US). Based on 'The Backrooms' series by Kane Pixels, esp on the character of Ivan Beck.
Additional thoughts below the cut:
Another piece inspired by Ivan Beck and The Backrooms. This one is kind of still a WIP, as I am not fully happy with it, but I wanted to post this stage nontheless.
The George Brehm painting appears in Found Footage 2 and is speculated to relate to Ivan Beck in some way. It fit *incredibly* well into the stock image, and even adding some light effects and shadows worked out very well imo.
Might be I will return to this piece in the future. We'll see.

"Ivan", alt title "The Beholder"
Digital collage made in GIMP with stock photos from pexels.com. Inspired by the character of Ivan Beck from Kane Pixels' The Backrooms series (on youtube) and the OST/its cover art for the series (also on youtube). The eye sketch was done by me.
Some additional thoughts below the cut:
I am so happy with how this piece turned out, in part because I did not expect it would look so close to how imagined it. The look of the colors and the overlays give me a lot of joy.
I wanted to recreate the 'feel' of the more abstract Backrooms videos (Overflow etc.) as well as the cover art for the songs. One major inspiration was an instagram story which can be found in this reddit post. I also wanted to incorporate a couple of themes/motifs that I noticed (green light, eye imagery, sun imagery, the sea, time and space, the eight 'arms' of the prototype etc).
Only time will tell how 'canon accurate' this is, but for the time being, I quite like it.

"The Cheering Giant"
PNG digital collage of the Rolling Giant, but with pompoms instead of flower hands. Made in GIMP with a screenshot from The Oldest View Part 3 - The Rolling Giant from Kane Pixels (which includes use of the Julien Reverchon Giant made by Kevin Obregon) and a stock image from unsplash.
Additional thoughts under the cut:
This came to exist because there is no cheerleding emoji and because I wanted to cheer on someone who is making TOV related media, hence, this little png was created. Not exactly this iteration, but one similar to this, was the first thing I tried to create when I got back into GIMP all those weeks ago. It was a good starting point to get back into the program (and hilarious to make).
I decided to make a smaller sized one for convenience as well, seeing as the first one is bit big for, say, discord or the likes.
